Thoughts Pendleton Darby Coat?

I am in desperate need of a fall though mid winter coat, I have the maxi length puffer. It must have a hood, fit over a suit jacket or light topper - ie roomy not super fitted (so sleeves and arm set can't be too tight, and be water resistant, warm and not overly casual. Has anyone had on the Pendleton Darby? Coats were not a great selection, I may wait till fall, but this one does fit the wish list. Anyone have any experience with Pendleton coats and this coat in particular? Thanks.

Don’t have this Pendleton coat, but have had more than a few in past. I love them, excellent quality. Often the fabric is made in the USA. I get compliments often on the ones I have

Anna - are they warm? I tend to run cold. Do you find them TTS? Also are the sleeves usually roomy? So hard to tell from the photo. I actually was thinking of you. I remembered you spoke highly of Pendleton in the past and bought the Willhem blazer in the fall which I adore but the sleeves do run very narrow. Thoughts?

Lisa - it looks nice right?! At according to the video there is even a double zipper. I'm just not sure sleeves are wide enough and that it's warm enough. But my fall/winter coat is over 10 yr old and I'm soooooooooooo sick of it from last years cold. I just NEED something new and it's getting pretty shabby. So I wantsie a coat, a great coat....

I had saved the Darby jacket, but haven’t ordered it. I have a few Pendleton items and the quality is excellent. There’s another jacket I was looking at:

This is kind of gear-lite. For hiking and birding, it would probably be warm, but I hate to wear dry cleanable items out in the wild.

Jaileen - that is also a very nice jacket. Too casual for my needs but perfect for yours. Do you find them warm enough? Are they TTS? Can you layer? Do you size up to do that? Thanks.

I can’t speak to sizing, sorry, just quality. From past experience I would expect the Darby jacket to be high quality.

One of my regrets was not buying a Pendleton wool/down parka a couple years ago that was Black Watch.

Gryffin, I think so - I suspect you mean a fitted long blazer as the under layer

Angie - a long blazer or light lady coat worn as a topper. It’s hard to find wider sleeves to accommodate the layers. I wear my trench less due to the “wiggle” factor. It’s why I kept this coat so long. Yes I’d rather a less bright lining but it’s not a deal breaker. If the good was lined in that I would need to draw the line. Coats are so difficult. Hope you are having a brilliant time and thanks so much for all the info!!

I don’t know this particular coat, but I have the blue and black plaid wool Pendleton coat from a couple of years ago, and I find it to be the best balance of light weight and warm. Sleeves are plenty roomy enough for a jacket underneath. Try it!

I find Pendleton to be TTS. Go to their actual website for the size chart.
Unfortunately I suspect this particular coat may not be warm enough. The water resistance woven in is amazing. Pendleton does some really interesting fabrications.
One of their pure wool to very high wool content coats might be better.

I haven’t seen this in person, didn’t have it at my store, but it looks really good online. I hope you try it and report back.

I think the water resistance is a wonderful asset. I am definitely interested in getting a coat from them. It would be a nice and dressier option which is what I want.
