Thoughts on this Yellow Handbag?

I have been using my "plain jane" tan crossbody handbag quite a bit lately. (http://youlookfab.com/welookfa.....chy-matchy) Anyway, as I review the outfits that I wear it with each and every one is okay with the tan but would work as well or better with yellow! Also, I think am (sadly?) not a "vegan friendly" bag type of gal and the tan is a faux leather fabrication. I like this one below, okay love the detailing of the actual bag part, but I am not positive about the brown fabric strap. One the plus side, I wear gearish brands (patagonia, outdoor research, ex officio) a lot and the fabric kind of might be a bridge. On the other hand visually you lose the some of look of the yellow accent provided by the strap because of this design. I think i would consider removing the suitcase looking leather shoulder pad unless you all say that is a major no-no.

Bag looks cool, but I know what you mean about the missing pop of colour near your face with the strap.

I'm a firm believer that bags need to be tried on first; they can be verrry different in person. Or maybe $55 is small enough for you to take a gamble on?

That is a very unusual bag! I quite like it, although I do agree it's a bit "gear" like and the strap is potentially a problem. Also, what is it like inside? Are there any compartments? If it is just a bucket, it might not be all that practical. Unless you have one of those inner organizers that Mary K and Rae (I think) once linked us to.

I will say that I absolutely LOVE carrying a yellow bag. I never thought I would say that! But it is so much fun to add that pop of colour and since I'm unable to wear yellow otherwise, it's a fun hit for me.

@ Fruitful... this is a good point, but it certainly isnt a mint either to try out...

@ Suz, interesting i actually prefer a bucket because i usually carry just a phone, wallet and keys and thus other compartments rarely are used and just make the main compartment smaller/whole bag heavier.... i do like an key strap though like in a timbuk 2 messenger bag but i have rarely found this on a real purse...

ETA: Also forgot to say thanks Suz for letting me know how much fun you have had! I love your outfits that incorporate your yellow bag!

Thanks for the links Anna! I think one thing i really like in a crossbody bag is when it is taller than it is wide dimensionally if that makes sense?

It's a lovely yellow and the brown strap is probably more practical than a matching yellow strap would be, so you get both beauty and practicality in this bag. yay.

I like this, Sarah, and it seems like your summer is a lot like mine -- hot and pretty casual (actually, this is tough for me since I like dressing up at least some of the time). This is really swanky gear, if it's gear at all! I say yay, and from now on I'm calling my cheapo bags "vegan bags" instead of plastic or vinyl!

I really like the colour and the "texture" of the bag - makes it quite unique. It is casual so would be great with jeans etc.

That's a nifty-looking little bag! I wonder if you could change the strap later if so minded. Or use a tie or belt off an old dress or coat, maybe... I do know what you mean about missing an yellow strap --- I'd have waited to see if I could find one like that myself.

@ Beth Ann, I have been trying to find my 5 style descriptors for quite a few months now and "really swanky gear" is probably one of the best summaries I can think of... pretty much describes me to a T most summer days!
