Thoughts on this dress?

What do you think? Is the exposed zipper on the way out? Per Angie's blog post, I am good with 3/4 sleeves as I am a sleeve-scruncher anyway, but I do need some coverage! Could this go with boots and shoes? It is the perfect length for me.

I can definitely see it on you. Would the line of print across the stomach area bother you?

I love it - the pattern really works for me (not a pattern person). With your RATE style Una I think exposed zippers will always work

I was hoping the band across the stomach would simulate waist definition but it could backfire! I think I will try and hope the shoulders work...

Definitely worth a try! I'm hoping the answer is naaah on the zippers being on the way out. I asked Angie about that on my lace pencil skirt (same as hers) and she said it wasn't going to date.

Here is a question - why is everything rayon? And is rayon inherently flimsy summer wear?

I think the dress will work great with your style Una and definitely worth a try. I haven't read/heard anything about exposed zippers being on their way out.

As for your rayon question, I honestly wish there was more rayon around, as opposed to polyester and other man-made fabrics! While it is not cotton or silk, it is still a natural fiber in a loose sense of the word and so much more pleasant than any of the non-natural alternatives. For me, it is flimsy summer wear in the same amount silk is flimsy summer wear.

ETS: I believe that it is cheaper than silk and cotton, hence it's relative abundance, or overabundance of polyester. Rayon/modal/tencel etc. are all pretty much the same, and tend to be really soft.

I think it's look great on you! And it's definitely worth a try. If you didn't like zipper later on, could you layer something over it?

Interesting question re the rayon.

I like that it is more comfortable to wear than polyester but there seems to be huge quality differences in "hand" and wearability. I splurged on a sale priced designer brand top that is hefty and beautifully lustrous and another recent buy (not as pricey but not inexpensive) is pilling after a few wearings and the fabric is almost see through. It also "caught" although the retailer sent it out for repairs which was nice.

Please let us know how the dress is when you receive it.

Love it! I think it might have been sitting in my shopping cart at one time or another ... it hits all the right notes for me: shift, pattern, length. But I wonder if it's right for this time of year.

I like it! If the waist print hits in the right spot, I think it's leg lengthening.

Hm, hopefully it's a knit rayon and not lightweight, summer woven rayon.

I love it! I can definitely see you in it. Good luck with the fabric -- some rayons feel quite nice, but I know what you mean about the F21 variety.
