As far as Avant Garde goes, I think these type of items are Inspired by avant garde designers, but some of the design elements have very much crossed over into the mainstream so it's probably not Avant Garde in its purist form. Having said that it is beautiful and not typical of what "everyone" is wearing so I think it should have longevity.
