Thoughts on these tuxedo-esque jackets

I have a tuxedo jacket on my wish list for my cocktail capsule, but it would work for plenty of other occasions as well. Ideally, I would like two - cropped one to work with skirts/dresses and longer one/almost boyfriend style for pants. Practically, I might have to settle for one

I have just found that is is available online in black too (#1). Also, Express just got this one (#2). The BB Dakota jacket is longer, will definitely work for pants, not so sure about skirts ( I am wearing it with a pencil skirt in the photo from the meeting). The Express jacket is a medium length jacket that could either work with both skirts and pants well or maybe not be ideal with either. Both are of similar price, although I will wait for the sale for either. Express one is probably better quality and there are options for matching bottoms (pants and pencil skirt) and a vest.

What are your thoughts on these jackets/their lengths? Which one do you prefer? Do you think I should I get one jacket in medium length or try to look for two separate ones, long and cropped?

I have two tuxedo jackets. One very cropped and one longer. If you can swing two budget wise I'd do that. I prefer the cropped one with skirts, but haven't tried it with dresses. Though I tend not to layer over dresses.

If I remember correctly the BB Dakota one did not close, right? I think that makes it less versatile and maybe harder to wear with skirts. So I think the express might be a better bet if you were to get only one.
I'm assuming from these choices that you are looking for all black, but I am kind of intrigued by the idea of a black and white tuxedo jacket. Like this:

Ana, I would prefer two but I am not sure it would be realistic.

Diana, I saw that white tuxedo jacket and am in love! It is on my wishlist, but I would prefer to get a black one first.

Those are great. I can't tell the length difference between the two you posted too much. My initial reaction is to think that when I try to get something in between to work with more than one thing, it doesn't really work well for either. So I vote to try to get two lengths. Get the length you think you'd get the most wear out of first.

I loved 2...the pocket flaps added a touch of detail that I liked more.

I like #2 better just from the pic, but also because it has the option of matching bottoms. Seems like the smarter choice to me.

Thank you very much ladies! Seems that #2 is more popular, and I personally prefer it as well. Now I would be curious to know if the length would work for skirts too ( I think it works for pants). I am adding the photos of the matching items, all that I really like. It would be cool to own the whole 4-piece suit

I prefer the 1st jacket, but I rarely button mine anyway. I just like that style better in a tuxedo style for women.

I like the Express jacket best, as it seems more dressy for your cocktail functions. I could see all the other pieces on you too.
Today I tried on a black tuxedoesque jacket at H&M that was cute but the style wouldn't work for my needs. It was an ok length on me wearing a pencil skirt and had a peplum ruffled back. It would have to be worn over slim underlayers.

I just looked at H&M online and didn't see it.
