Thoughts on these trench coats

Sadly, I had to return the fab red trench coat I got from Nordstrom Rack due to fit issues, so I am on the hunt for another one. I am wondering what people's opinions are of these 2 options.

In particular, the fabric content 57% cotton/43% polyester vs. 98% cotton/2% spandex. What are the advantages or disadvantages?

Also, this is my first and only trench coat for now. Any thoughts on colors or patterns? I can wear magenta or blue. I would not get the beige. Other suggestions in a similar price range are welcome.

I love London Fog coats and both you have shown here are lovely. I have one very similar to the cobalt one...single breasted in beige. I love the fabric, it is easy care...machine washable and the fit is superb.

I have a London Fog trench from last year. It's a decent and nice-looking coat at the price. Mine is a different model -- more traditional and knee length. In black, too, because they didn't have navy last year. (Grrr...I wanted navy!) I think the fabric content should be fine -- it helps with the water resistance to have some poly. Both your options are lovely, although plain navy would be more classic and if you only have one, that might be best.

Yes, I can see how plain navy would be more classic... although I have to admit I was somewhat leaning towards the magenta. The reason being that I wear jeans a lot, and a navy coat with jeans seems like a lot of blue (especially for someone who already wears a lot of blue). I have a grey winter coat, and I absolutely hate wearing it with grey work pants. Am I being silly? I wish they had red as an option.

Oh, I'd love the magenta. It would be great! Sveta has a magenta trench and it looks amazing on her.

I think a bright coat is a wonderful thing. I have a red winter coat that I adore.
