Thoughts on these cowboy boots?

I've been considering cowboy boots for a while now - I think they'd go well with the more rockabilly side of my style. Plus, I AM moving to Texas, after all!

I saw these on eBay and am wondering if I should bid. They look like they're in good condition and they can be returned if they don't work. The only thing I'm not sure of is the color...would a darker brown look better with my coloring? Does it matter?

I think cowboy boots could be a good addition for you. (Actually I think it's probably the law in Texas!) Maybe If they seem to be a really good deal they might be worth it just to try them out. But honestly, I don't see anything special about this pair.

Hmmm, what do you mean by special? I don't think I like the kind with lots of colored detailing. I definitely want brown.

If you're looking to bookend with your hair, then a darker pair would be better; however, I wear royal blue booties and they certainly don't match my hair (too bad!). It's a nice color and probably would go with lots of things. Give 'em a a try!

Amy brought up a a good point about the color not bookending your hair. Then again, that might not been what you are hoping to do. I think the lighter color would work with a variety of colors and would play really well in your wardrobe.

I love the look of them worn with spring/summer dresses, so i thought a lighter color might work well for that.

I have a very similar pair (1883 by Lucchese) that I've had for probably 8 years, and I love them. I also have a pair that is very, very dark maroon -- almost a red-toned black.

I think they'd be great for your style. I also prefer the simpler styles of cowboy boots without too much detailing.

I have dark hair too but I prefer the tan boots for wearing with casual dresses and skirts (as well as jeans) in spring and fall. I don't think it's always necessary to bookend. I prefer the low contrast with my pale legs.

Or...you might wait until you get to Texas. You will have plenty to choose from.

I would not buy off of eBay until you are SURE your size. Try Zappos first, or someplace with great reurn policies. I say this as they are notoriously hard to fit and get correct.

And you are right, there is a state law in Texas. Each person is required to own cowboy boots and a very large belt buckle! I even saw men wearing their cowboy boots with full suits!

I would go for a darker color, if I remember your palette correctly. Maybe the currently trendy "oxblood"?

I think you should go to a store where you can try the boots on. I bought some western boots at Sheplers a few years ago and they had a huge selection in all colors, styles, prices, and fit. If you don't have a western store near you, then maybe you should wait until you move to Texas.

Some of these are men's, some are super expensive. I just meant them as inspiration...I think you and I have similar coloring and I think a taupe or chocolate would serve you better than tan...

Interesting - chocolate brown would be my first choice but is it too heavy a color for dresses and skirts, and/or for spring weather?

No, I think it would be perfect, bookending your hair! Especially if it had some lighter embroidery.
