Thoughts on brocade jeans?

After seeing the picture below in someone's tumblr account, I find myself really drawn to these brocade jeans, despite in the past having been too timid to try patterned pants. I have no idea if they are on-trend- I'm seeing a lot of patterned and colored jeans, but brocade seems to be reserved for more dressy pieces. I really love the texture of the jeans though- it seems like it would be a fun piece to remix.

Am I crazy? Would they look like I escaped a country club or could they be styled to look young?

I have those exact jeans in the picture. They're by JBrand, I had to search high and low for them. I plan to wear them with a oversized blouse and furry vest.

I fell in love with this trend too. I prefer it to the color jean trend, for myself. I have tried a few pairs on already (including the Jbrand), but haven't found mine yet.

I really want some, but they are so $$$$ and J Brands don't fit me. I think it might be fun to style them in a "British country" sort of style, you know, with a tweedy frock coat and black riding boots or something. But for a less over the top look, I would go for something like an oversized sweater or maybe an edgy tunic top + leather jacket. And boots, of course.

JBrand fits me pretty well. I got my usual size, a 29. I had a birthday coupon from Anthropologie so I saved a bit of money on them.

Wow, it looks like I am most definitely not alone in my new obsession!

I really do wish they were more affordable- since I'm in wardrobe building mode they are tough to justify with so many other basics higher in the priority list...

If I'm recalling correctly, Target has some if you want to go low-end. Can't speak to the quality, but might be a fun way to try the baroque print. I don't think the print stood out quite as much as it does here, but it did catch my eye.

You're funny N-Marie. Country Club escapee. Hehe. Esp. funny because I can see the connection. There is a certain set of country clubbers who seem to have a certain penchant for victorian-ish brocade sofas. They'll have the sofa, maybe a big marble topped table... and then that's it. No more furniture. Makes you feel like the other moving van got lost.

But the jeans are fab. They're baroque. I love them as in the picture, with a black silk blouse. Anna's oversized blouse and furry vest sounds to die for!

They're beautiful. I can't see myself in them, but you never know. They would have to be styled with a rather subdued, aristocratic look to suit my tastes, just to balance the flamboyance. But that's me.

They are cute, and a nice way to experiment with the trend. Since they're printed though, they do lack the wonderful texture of the brocade- but that's probably what's driving the price difference!

I'm definitely attracted to the brocade/Baroque trend and I've seen in-person both the JBrand brocade jeans (at Anthropologie) and the second Target pair in black. The JBrand runs a size small for me, but TTS for me in JBrand (figure = undefined waist, narrow hips, curvy butt and legs). But really expensive and the gold colorway, which I love the most, isn't flattering to my thighs. I didn't try the Target pair on because I ended up buying a different pair of black skinny jeans printed with dark gray peacocks... the online picture is horrendous but it's very subtle in real life.

Those jeans are great! I also used to be too timid to try patterned pants. Then over the summer I found a pair of black and white plaid cropped trousers. I felt a little out of my comfort zone the first time, but they really are fun to wear and add a element to an outfit that a pattern top just can't. I do understand the hesitation with the price point, though. I don't think I'd have tried the style at $200+, my pants were only $10.

I love them and would love to own some, but it's challenging to find a pair that's flattering on my not-so-slender thighs. If I found a pair that were more low-contrast or tone-on-tone, I'd try them. Go for it!

I hadn't seen these before but I like it. The Target ones with the damask-like print on them seem especially wearable to me because it's a low contrast look. I wear patterned skirts, why not patterned pants?

If I see a pair in my size, I might have to go for it! Although this is definitely a case where being a better seamstress would be handy...
