I carry a picture of myself at my heaviest weight, as a reminder that I do not want to go back there. For some unknown reason, I thought I'd scan it and show you all. This is where years of body image issues come from.

The picture isn't the greatest quality but hopefully you'll see enough. This was 10 years ago BTW.

I think if it works for you, that's awesome. I have over the last 10 years or so taken bathing suit pics, front, side and back. Sometimes the number on the scale isn't as telling as your actual size. It's not for the faint of heart, but it helps keep it real lol.
It is also interesting to see that our shapes change more as we age and that body fat % has so much to do with how things fit.

Well, I don't carry pics with me, but they're out there. Not very many, seeing as I did not solicit the attention of anyone with a camera. I keep a couple of articles of clothing from my peak weight that I put on occasionally to make me feel good. When I reach my goal, I intend to take a picture of me in them. :o)

I totally get the whole body issues thing. And I'm feeling tugged in both directions at once nowadays, sometimes feeling incredibly skinny, and sometimes feeling really fat. I haven't succeeded in readjusting my mental image to something stable yet, especially because it's still a moving target. Going through menopause at the same time is complicating it even more. Losing ten pounds and having my waistline stay the same was, well, demoralizing.

Congratulations on your loss and for having so much fun in developing a new style around your new body.

OMG Shannon, you don't even look like the same person! You've totally transformed your body and your style. Wow, I'm impressed because that represents a lot of hard work (not the least of which is very mental)!

Great idea, Shannon. You've come a long way and it's easy to forget after a while, and maybe not fully appreciate how far you've come. It's not just the body weight either, consider how much more stylish your hair is now also

My goodness the picture ALMOST doesn't look like you but I do recognise your gorgeous smile and twinkling eyes:) I don't keep a picture but a photo of myself at a public event, about 12 months afer the birth of my son, sent me back to Weight Watchers!! (Im a life member lol) That picture is etched into my brain and I never want to go back there:) Shannon well done! I am convinced that unless we are born with supermodel genes it does take work and discipline to look good and to look healthy.

I think that you must be a very wise and warm woman, Shannon. My respect for all the hard work you've put into finding a new shape! I agree with you, knowing and remembering where we've been and why we don't want to go there again, can prevent making mistakes in the future.

Thank you all for your lovely comments. I lost a total of 75 pounds and over the last two years have unfortunately put back on 20 of it due to an endocrine imbalance. Working on getting that all back on track through.

Soobee - I owe my weight loss to a combination of Weight Watchers and the Running Room - one to learn how to eat properly and one to learn how to run properly.

The style transformation struck me first - looks like you are focusing on taking care of yourself in many ways.

I appreciated seeing this tonight. I'd just been trying on keep/toss stuff for DH and was depressed about many things accentuating my thighs and gut - yes, this can happen at all sizes when you are not taking care of the body. :T I like your strategy and might steal it a bit...
