Hi everyone! I'm pretty new to the forum, so I'm just gonna do a quick rundown of who I am. My name is Alyssa (isacat is optional - and ironic as cats are my kryptonite allergy) I'm 20, and I recently moved to the DC area from Pittsburgh, PA to attend the Art Institute for interior design. I have a part-time job as a nanny, which I love, but it kinda throws a monkey wrench in my style.
My biggest wardrobe challenge is not letting my work wardrobe (yoga pants/leggings + baggy crew neck tees and sneakers) leak into my "other" wardrobe. Which is, y'know, for the rest of the time. School, dates, errands, etc. So, yeah those are the basics.
Now, about the capsule wardrobe. I'm going to San Fran at the end of November for my mom's work trip, to babysit my newest sibling (who is not yet born.) I have a horrible tendency to overpack, so even though I'll only be there 5 days/4 nights that could easily become a big suitcase stuffed to the brim.
I would like to create a "capsule" wardrobe that takes into account the local weather, the fact that I will have a long flight there and back, the babysitting during the day part, and a casual-chic night wardrobe. I've been to San Fran before around the same time and was shocked by how cold it was, and at my awful footwear choices. I don't want to do too much shopping specifically for this trip, but if there's an item or two I'll need, I'm willing to buy. So, yeah. Help please? I know for sure that I will be bringing a long-sleeve jersey b/w striped dress, and want to wear it everyday, so I guess that should be my starting point? thanks in advance!
