The viscose “sweater” is still there. But there is also another color that suits me. I’m torn. The burgundy is more in line with what I already have, obviously, but the purple would expand my range a bit, and it would go well with the pinks, blues, greens, and peaches. I’m repeating the purple pic from last week for comparison sake and yes, I wound up wearing exactly the same thing again today.

A new temptation—silk kimonos! The colors glowed in the sunshine. I know they are “architectural”, kept thinking they were too big. The ties on the last one can be removed or swapped out corner others.

Speaking of silk glowing in the sunshine, check out the scarves! I took pix wearing quite a few patterns, but don’t think they’re really showing much, so am not posting them all. I am really tempted, nearly bought a green one from this stand once in the past, but didn’t want to spend the money. My birthday is coming up…

And, drumroll….. the dress was still there, but not anymore—it’s in my closet.

I’ll check out jewelry at home to go with the dress, but a few things at the market caught my eye.

If Kimono, then which? And with what/where would I wear it? Sheath dress? Jeans? (My son says “I wonder the same thing” & not in a good way, lol)

The burgundy top 100% gets my vote over the purple.

I like the kimonos on you. Where are you going to wear one?

Eta oh, I didn't notice that last part of your most recent comment before I posted. My query is delivered in a tone perhaps less snarky than your son's. But still, good to have a clear vision of what that item would do for you -- as opposed to investing in the top, or jewelry to go with your new dress, etc.

Sarah, yes, I thought of your post as I was writing this one! Where to wear a kimono seems to be the question, even bigger than which kimono. Btw, just realized the dress has POCKETS.

Various strings of beads I could wear with the dress, and a little necklace my son made me in 4th grade. I’d have to clean up the leather before wearing it, obviously. I think it’s my favorite.
If I wore the stands, I could twist a few together & clip them in back to make a choker, the same length as the little 4 bead necklace from my son.

Love the daisy dress, great that you got it. I would skip a necklace because it is busy enough for me with the pattern. Having said that I think it will look cool with the beads in #4 above - is that the one your son made? I slightly prefer the purple top over the burgundy for you. Something about the coolness of the purple really works to my eye. Kimonos - I like #10 for you, it lights you up. I have no idea what to wear it with other than jeans. The #10 would look fab with white, light wash and dark wash jeans. Predictable I know.

So glad you got the dress!! The velour tops could go either way- I prefer the cool tone of the purple on you, but for myself I tend to buy items that will work with at least one other item already in my closet, so that could have me leaning to the burgundy. If you get one of the kimonos (and I agree with all the previous comments about figuring out where you'd wear it), then I love the color of the one in 9-10 on you. For jewelry, do you have any bracelets that would work?

Very fun! I am so glad you got the dress. For necklaces, I like the top blue one in pic 1 further down the thread and the yellowish green beads one in pic 4 in same grouping.

I adore both the purple and burgundy viscose tops. Either or both would be awesome.

My favorite is the kimono in pics 9 and 10. I would wear it as a topper. I enjoyed the shopping trip

They’re actually haori and technically not kimono. . .My mom had a number of them when she died but all were way too big on me so I had to pass them on. I love them all on you; I think the colors flatter you immensely although TBH I’m not keen on the circle print. I would wear them with anything plain and simple enough not to fight, from jeans to skirts to dresses. If it were me, I would need to decide whether the loose sleeves would interfere with how I live my life and if the jacket would slide around. Otherwise, I would be so-o-o tempted (even though they’re not in my *normal* gray and black lol).

Yay to the dress! I like the kimono in pic 8, I could see that working nicely into your wardrobe, but pic 9 is awfully fun too.

Donna, thanks for clarifying that! There was a little tag that said “haori Seide”. The second word is German got silk; I thought haori was a descriptor for silk, not garment type, so I appreciate your comment. Next time I look at these, I’ll have to play with sleeves as pockets, because that’s brilliant and would not have thought of it. How can I tell if they’re the right size? With fitted garments, it’s easy, but I really wasn’t sure with these. It must’ve been hard to give away your mom’s. Also, the market seller has a rack of black, just waiting for you!

Merwoman, one could fit into my wardrobe oo easily! But I still don’t know where they’d fit into my life…. The specs are readers from the Foster Grant rack at the drug store. I’ll probably need “real” ones before too long, and don’t look forward to having to decide on just one style.

Rachylou, the one that’s my usual color was the least interesting on, I thought.

Cardiff, there was another customer just waiting to swoop on that parasols one! She said “you picked out the very best one” with perhaps a bit more edge in her voice than she intended

Nikki and Star, yay for excitement for the purple top! Thinking it over, the burgundy felt like the one I “should” get, but I’d look forward to the purple.

Pleased you got the dress - I think it will be well used.

I like both burgundy and purple - they do suit you.

The haori are lovely - I almost see them as wall art. I don't know how I would wear one in my life, but other people would just wear them everywhere so it's a very personal thing.

What a beautiful day you had. Your pictures are lovely and after viewing them I felt like I had just had a mini vacation! I do not have an opinion on the haori, however I do think the burgandy is my fav.

SO glad the Daisy dress is in your closet. It's such a great happy print and looks gorgeous on you. I am partial to the blue bead necklace. It looks so pretty with your eye color. I'd totally get that and wear it with everything. Love the haori too. I prefer the plain colors. The beige and the solids. Not keen on the circle - for some reason. Maybe it seems hard to coordinate with? They are fun layering pieces for sure!

You wear those berry shades sooo well! No wonder you love them. They love you right back! #8 and #15 are my faves in terms of kimono and scarf.

Stag, I meant to say earlier that when I wear a lightweight linen or cotton dress I really find it makes a difference to wear a satin full slip underneath (I use sleepwear) to give the dress more heft. Especially if you want to wear it in a work environment it could be helpful.

I like the kimono in pic 8. I think that fits in with your colour preferences nicely.

I do like the burgundy jumper but also the purple one - why not both, lol? You could even wear it over the dress to make it a daisy skirt

You positively glow in that orangey coral haori (I had no idea there were women's haori, thought it was just men's - TIL!) I could see it belted or worn open, with either sleeveless or a long sleeved top underneath (burgundy & coral would make an interesting combo), with any fitted white bottoms (jeans, shorts, even a skirt could work). Lots of options!

That penultimate bangle is so uniquely designed - I like how the shape helps to accentuate the fluid movement of the whirling dervish

I wouldn't leave without at least a half dozen of those scarves, even though I'm not wearing them much these days--I'd want them just to hang in the closet so I could admire them.

And then the jewelry! I'd stay 'till closing time. That necklace in ##19, 20 is so gorgeous, and so beautiful on you!

I do like the purple top on you, but then purple and burgundy are popular colors for my wardrobe.

Ms Maven, I believe you’ve just given me the nudge to go back tomorrow. It’s my last chance before I put myself on “lockdown” (not really, but for the last 2 weeks before I visit someone who is immunocompromised, I’m cutting out unnecessary excursions and wearing a mask whenever I do go out, starting next Friday). I love those scarves too, and like you have the hardest time picking!

Star, good idea. I’m taking a silk chemise that I expect would work that way easily.
