I saw this shirt on one of my trips around the internet and I LOVED it instantly. I like the ease of it, the arty-ness of it, and the diffuse, random pattern (I seldom wear pattern, esp. not near my face). That said, the pattern is nudes. Could I wear it? I don't know. Would you wear it?

I love it too but I honestly probably wouldn't wear it. Especially with the nipples drawn in. I would just get too many comments.

The pattern is subtle but I would not wear it myself. In the US, nudity is too much connected with sex and may give the idea that the wearer is open to something that she is not. It should not be that way but it is.
Could you wear it? If you want to, but first ask yourself what your son would think of your wearing it.

Sara L. and Joy, This is the problem. I recognize it as artistic and not pervy, but I do not want to put anything overtly sexy out there. It goes too close to the line for me, I think. I wish there were a shirt JUST like this but with more Matisse-like squiggles, or something.

Where would you like to wear it? Who is your audience, and how do you want them to perceive you? Which signals/messages do you think they'll get when they see you dressed in this shirt?

I wouldn't wear it. Nowhere. I just wouldn't like people to think of nudity when they look at me.

The Cat, I think we are in agreement. I simply wondered if I am more prudish/conservative than most. I see the art in it and like the shirt very much, but I don't the know that I can wear boobies on the outside of my clothes.

I would wear it in an arty/adult environment, I think. It looks classy not trashy, to my eye.

I'm afraid I wouldn't be able to wear it. I work in a male-dominated conservative field. It would send the wrong type of message.

That said, I do see why you appreciate it.

I understand the arty- ness of it, but I wouldn't wear it. That has to do with environmental norms, like a family , the kinds of people I interact with, and a lack of interest in calling that kind of attention to myself or my body.

I would aaaaaalmost wear it even though I also have a pretty strong dislike of being seen sexually. You know how fashion magazines are always talking about the outfits one wears to art openings, as if our lives are spent flitting from gallery to gallery? I would wear this if that were my life. Which isn't so far off from my actual life (hooray!) so I can almost imagine it.

It's funny, it's just two dots but I agree that it would be less sexual without the nipples, like someone pointed out.

I think there's a consensus I may have to explore DIY options because I like the idea of the shirt very much but wish the illustration were sparrows or leaves or something.

I could almost see wearing it if it were a bit more abstract -- as others have said, the nipples being drawn in kind of draw too much attention to the forms as body shapes.

I dig it. However, even thought I don't see it as a suggestive item, other people would be put off by it. Will depend on context and location.

I think I react to it negatively because nudes in painting are different from being a design on clothing. I think the intent really is different.

I will be the outlier, and say that I would wear it! In particular, I would make it a part of a dressy capsule. I do not see it as overtly sexual, or even particularly sexy. It's a button down! However I feel that my short hair, modest bustline, and athletic build juxtaposes and neutralizes anything that might normally read as 'sexy'.

I wish it was silk, and didn't have the pocket...

Yay, Runcarla! I will note that the first time I saw this shirt, I couldn't make out any of the designs and responded to it positively thinking it was just an abstract. Once I got to the retailer's site, I saw that it was the human figure and started teasing my brain, wondering if I'd wear it.

Even now, I respond to it simply as art. I can see that others have attached much more baggage to the choice.

Funny story. My favourite t-shirt was a black bicycle image on white. All my sporting friends thought it was super cool. No one ever said anything, except my mother, an artist (!) who asked if it bothered me that the placement of the wheels of the bike were over my boobs! (Just a peek in the pic below.)

I've also worn a uniform with rather bizarre placement of the maple leaf (Canadian motif), but then I have a healthy sense of humour. One has to have a tongue in chique!

Runcarla, I, too, choose to laugh when possible Hahahah, the maple leaf! I bet the bike-wheels were unintentionally placed, but you know it's a "thing" now to make tee's with all sorts of funny graphics on the boob.

I would wear it if it were a knit top, not a button-down. Most button-downs don't fit my chest. (Ironic).

Speaking of ironic....in America, a film with violence, murder, and death will get a PG or PG-13 rating, (Pirates of the Caribbean 3 opens with a mass hanging, followed by bodies heaped on a cart).

Show a naked female breast, and it's an instant R-rating.

There you have it. A woman's body is worse than fly-blown bodies being cut down from the gallows.

SO H*LL YES I WOULD WEAR THIS SHIRT. If it comes in a knit pullover option.

I am with the majority - I would not wear it because I be worried about how others were interpreting it. Clothing seems in a very different category than art - maybe because if one is bothered by an art subject, one simply avoids that exhibit, but the clothes that others wear can't really be avoided.

This makes me realize that I rarely see male abstract nudes. And would people feel differently if the shirt were a a print of Michaelangelo's David?

OK, we Canucks must be outliers because I’m with Carla in thinking there is nothing particularly sexual in this abstract drawing of a woman’s body. Maybe it’s a cultural thing?

I would wear it too, not to a school event, but casually in the weekend with friends. I don't think anyone in my social groups would notice!!

But if it gives you pause, there are always more shirts!!

I'm not into nudity, and so would not wear it. I like clothes (!) But it's a nice shirt, and in my artsy hippie town, this wouldn't cause nary an eyelash to bat...

Ha, I'm with Carla and Gaylene. I'd wear it. I like it!

But like Carla, I have a relatively "boyish" frame so perhaps the effect would be neutralized.

I would not wear this shirt. 100% viscose is bad. It creases and shrinks. The patch pocket looks off - unpolished.

As for the pattern and vibe. It's beautiful. Reminds me of my favourite artist - Picasso. Our house is full of use paintings. Why not!
