This shirt - bad color on me? K/T/Dye??

I was swayed into buying this a year or so ago because it is so soft and light and easy. But I don't reach for it because I am unsure of this olive-y neutral color on me. What do you think? Keep or let go? Might it be possible to dye it? It's 100% silk.

I added a terribly unflattering pic in natural light for a truer sense of color.

It looks like a great neutral on you. (I know 100% silk can be dyed--but I'm not sure how messy that is.) Seems like it would look great with all kinds of denim and black. I would keep as is and see if you can work it into a capsule

I don't know about the color on you but if the fact that you haven't been wearing it is a good indications it's not working for you.
I have dyed silk a few times using Rit dye in a large pan on the stove top. I had no problems.

I the photo it looks like a neutral you can wear well. You should try different lights--outdoors or stand in front of your window with natural light on your face--as that can make a difference. There are shades of khaki or beige or olive of some kind that work or don't work. If you like it in various lights, it is a great summer neutral--just as you've shown it paired with white--but also looks good with black and brights.

I added a natural light photo. More green shows up in that version. My bathroom light casts a more yellowish light.

Going by these photos, the shirt makes your eyes really pop, and your hair has a glossy sheen against it. I think it's a beautiful color on you, and I think maybe Unfrumped has hit on something - this may be a shirt for certain times of the year when the natural light is 'just so'.

Since returning it to wherever you got it doesn't seem to be an option, why not take it out in public for a quick spin? Running a few errands, etc., see how you feel while after a couple of hours.

It never would have occurred to me that this was a problem color for you. It's very neutral and versatile in both color and form, and in your case it's totally flattering. It looks great and I wouldn't go into dyeing it.

Not reaching for it usually is a sign that it doesn't flatter. I think you have good instincts and the colour and style seem a bit "blah" on you.

Janet, I don't find the color unflattering, but the size and position of the pockets gives me pause. Otherwise I think it has a nice relaxed casual vibe.

I actually like it with your hair. Maybe you could accessorize it with another colour you like close to your face. This colour would look so good with denim too. Give this orphan another try!

Tricky one, because this is a colour I don't personally like:( I don't think it looks bad on you Janet, I just think it looks a bit nondescript. Perhaps it could be good for layering? Throw a scarf on with if for some colour?

I have a poison eye for light or white buttons on a dark background. Dying could be tricky. I do not think it's your best color.

I think it is not a dark enough olive to look optimally good on you. I think with your high contrast coloring you need colors to be light, dark, or vibrant, and this is none of the above. I agree that it is a fine color, just not your best.

If you dye, try one of the brands from Dharma trading - Rit is cheaper, but not very long lasting....

I actually like it with your coloring. I think it makes the color of your hair and eyebrows and lashes pop. Almost like a good nude would do, but in green!

The color is rally fab on you. If you don't love it as it is, you could try pairing it with something bright/clear like cobalt, hot pink, white, or even black to add more contrast to your outfit. This strategy saved my "muddy" silk blouse.

Well, I took LBD's suggestion! I wore it out with my white shorts, turquoise sandals, turquoise ring, and turquoise bag. I actually enjoyed wearing it. It was breezy and comfortable on a hot evening to go grab some dinner and take a walk around town.

It's never going to be one of my favorite colors, and I may try dyeing it someday, but I actually didn't feel like it was a bad departure from my usual black-grey-white neutrals. I don't care for white buttons either, but that's an easy fix. I think I'll keep it for now. I could even wear a turquoise necklace to pull a more flattering color closer to my face.
