This peplum top - Y/N and what color

Nordy 40 is coming up (employee appreciation even where we get 40% off Nordstrom branded merchandise). I have my eye on this top:

But to be honest I am not head over heels for either color. The grey seems like the most practical; I have a pair of grey flannel and black leather kitten-heel pumps that would go with it and black pants or pencil skirt.

But it seems like the colored top (the orange version) would be more versatile in terms of going with lots of neutrals. I'm afraid it might not be very flattering color on me, though.

What say the forum? Yay= buy (please tell me which color you like).

I agree it's a beautiful top. I also agree, though, that with your rosy coloring, I'm having trouble envisioning you in the orange. The grey could look quite pretty on you, however. I'd give it a go.

ETA: I don't know if "rosy" is the right word, but you look so stunning in pink, blush, blue, purple...if you know what I mean.

I agree with Sarah; I think the gray goes better with your cool-toned skin. If you like scarves, you could put a blue or rose or red or purple scarf around your neckline (or a printed scarf with cool-toned colors) to add some color and pattern closer to your face.

Sarah, yes, rosy is a perfect description of my skin tone, actually! sort of pinkish but cooltoned.

Thanks for the input. The grey will also go nicely with my shoes, so I think that's the one I'll go for.

I like the gray better for your coloring, too. But I have a question...why are you considering buying it if you're not crazy for the color?

Dana, because I've been looking for a top exactly this SHAPE. I want to replicate this monochrome Lanvin outfit, which means now I just need to fit back into my grey pencil skirt! (-:

Right now, being a PM and Nordies is quite busy and stressful, so I think I completely deserve the perk...it's definitely NOT free! LOL!

Gotcha, thanks for the photo. You'll look great in your outfit! I can totally relate to trying to fit back into things. I gained a lot of weight in Europe this summer. I'm way to afraid to try anything on.

I like the top quite a bit, and I would definitely try it in the grey colour - I think grey is better for your colouring and your wardrobe.

Could you do the reverse of Angie's formula posted today? Not really 'reverse' exactly, but she was suggesting three pieces (black jacket, black pants, black booties with a pop of colour for the top). I'm now wondering about cream/white jacket, cream/white pants and this grey peplum top for you.

Also think this peplum sweater in grey will work beautifully with your blush pieces. I hope you do decide to try it!

Too bad work is stressful It sure seems to me like almost every business everywhere (from my view here in the Midwest) has more work done by less employees than ever . . . I hope you'll feel some relief from the pressure soon.

Jenava I love the outfit idea. I like the peplum top, but its a softer less structured fabrication than I have been seeing in peplums. Will it hold it's shape nicely? The few I have seen have been more structured and "stiffer fabrics. I'm looking at sleeveless top in a ponte fabric for example.

The grey is beautiful. I'm loving grey this season! If I had 40% I would be tempted to get much more than this sweater ...

I like the grey for you, and esp that is a soft peplum here! I cannot pull on stif peplums, cuz have wider hips, but now I learned something! will look at some like this one:-) Great!
