DH have decided on one nice present each for Christmas for each other this year. I have been eyeballing this j. crew bag forever. For me, not him. I know what I'm getting him already - studded tires to mountain bike in winter.

Yay! It's not the shape I'd go for probably, but it looks very practical and has lots of style with those outside pockets. Fun!

Bags are SO subjective, but I vote nay. It seems oddly shaped with the depth versus the short straps.

Anna, what's the bag you linked to? I'm coming up with a general link to 3,000 bags - very distracting indeed! I would love your suggestions.

I'm looking for a stylish bag I can bring on day trips and plane rides, now that I don't have to carry toys and snacks for my son (he can do it himself!). It does not HAVE to be black, but it needs to hold enough stuff for 12 hour trips (netbook shawl, book, neck pillow, etc.) and ideally be my purse as well, so I have a hand free to drag my carry-on.

I usually like a lot of J. Crew bags, but anything with two roundish pockets side by side just looks like boobs to me (yeah... there's a teenage boy giggling inside me over lots of silly things). I also think you might benefit from a crossbody strap option with your pets and kiddo in your life - Anna's link is pretty darn cool. Some of the other J. Crew ones are really nice, too.

Anna, that is a fabulous bag. Sadly, it's way out of the price range I'd be able to give my husband - he would keel over even at the price of the j. crew bag!

I like Anna's but it's almost double the price. I think you could find one like the J Crew for cheaper of the same quality but I'm not sold on it for you. I think you like rate with a bit more sophistication...if that makes any sense.
