Pearls will never have the same meaning again... from now on they're a reminder of a special young woman and to use from sadness as inspiration to do something awesome...

I told Mr. Gaylene about Mardi, her pearls, and her statement. Yesterday, when I put in my pearl earrings in her memory, my husband asked me "What are you going to do today that's awesome?" Not such a bad thought to start a day, so thank you, Mardi--and, you, Jen, for sharing her message with us.

Wearing pearls for Mardi today too. I believe it's late afternoon in Australia on 14th March as I type.

I've never noticed how many young women wear pearl earrings. I never really paid attention. But, I live close to the university - with so many students on the street and in my local busses I now seem only to notice the pearls. Each girl makes me think of Mardi. Jen and family, I know there are no words, no way to make things easier for you, but I hope you'll find some comfort in knowing she had touched us and how she'll live in our minds forever too.

Hi Ladies, it is early evening here on Friday and Mardi's funeral was at 1.30 p.m. this afternoon. From the forecast it looks like it would have been a lovely sunny day in the high 20's. I am sure it was beautiful day to farewell beautiful Mardi. Been thinking of you all day today Jen xxx
