Ahh....I bought two coats from Macy's on Black Friday...thought I got a good deal, and while I like the coats, I don't love them. Just took a bunch of photos, and realized that the colour of the coats I bought (one is described as 'smoke' colour, the other is an olive-y military green) aren't that great on me. Or rather, the green looked kind of neat, but the jacket cut me off at my widest point. I disliked the pictures so much that I couldn't bring myself to post them here. I know, I know...I'll get there eventually. The good news is that I learned how valuable it is to take pictures!

In the meantime, I tried on a red coat at Talbot's a couple of weeks ago, when they were having a 50% off all outerwear sale - I loved the shape of the coat, but wasn't crazy about the particular shade of red on me. It was Angie's red coat post that got me going in that direction. Just love her in the J Crew Metro coat, and would like something like that for me too, just that I don't think the collar would work on me.

This is the red one I tried on in Talbots:

The shape was nice ....just wasn't 100% sure on the shade of red and the same-colour buttons on the coat.

Meanwhile, fast forward to Black Friday sales, and I spy this one on sale for a good price:

I would really like to buy a non-black winter coat this year. What does everyone think of the blue tweed-y coat? Does it look matronly? Is the colour weird? My local Talbots store doesn't have these to try on...though it looks almost exactly (shape and style) like the red one that I did try on.

Order or keep looking?

Thanks,

Sara
PS -lots of Saras and Sarahs on the forum - I'm another one I know 'velvetychocolate' is cumbersome, but I came up with that one on the fly after seeing 'chewyspaghetti' when I first started reading here.
