Manidipa mentioned Think! shoes in my other thread and I went and had a look at the new collection. And I love almost everything! Not good... Why do they have to be so expensive?

The link brings me to a site but not a shoe.
Anyway, one pair of fabulous and comfortable shoes that work with your climate and style are worth a whole closet of so-so's.

Yeah, the expensive is what gave me pause too. I met them before YLF and brought home the brochure to drool over---without even trying on a single pair!

I have tried them before, but never bought a pair. Some work for my wide feet, some not so much. My dad wears this brand a lot! His favourite pair looks a bit like the ones below.

I see a fun DIY project - red nail polish on the tips of the laces. How cool is that?
Oh, and the shoes are very nice too. Shame about the price but perhaps they have some sales?

Oh yes, that would be fun! They do have sales, so the boots might go down to around 100€ or so, the shoes maybe to around 80€. Unfortunately I have a fairly common size, it's often sold out when sales start.

Astrid, I've bought several pairs of Think shoes over the years and they are really great quality and comfort. If you find a pair that you love, then I recommend you buy them. One pair of gorgeous, comfortable investment shoes are worth a closet full of so-so's as Joy said.

I have a pair of Think sandals that are my go-to comfortable day-long walking sandals which I have had for four or five years. I wore them as my almost-only shoes (I brought two pairs, but my second broke about three days in!) on a two week trip to England with tons of daily walking on varied surfaces. Even after that and years as my go-to, they look almost new. If your dad has been wearing them for years, you know at least second hand how great they are!

Well at least there's something out there that you LOVE and that are comfortable to aspire to/ save up for. I think that's better than not being able to find anything nice or comfortable.

@K, good to know! The ones that broke on your trip weren't Think! though, right?

Right, lovely Claire! They were Pikalinos, which I've otherwise had great luck with. The design for the Pikalinos was flawed, though. Think! got me through--totally dependable.

I second K's opinion on Think! shoes. I have a pair of Mary Jane sling-backs with a low heel that are so comfortable I can wear them for standing on my feet 12 hours or lots of walking. (I chose them last summer to wear to a graduation that I had to walk probably a mile there and back, because of parking scarcity.) Because of their funky styling, they tend to have good longevity style-wise, too.

I bought a pair of Thinks years ago and not only were they comfortable, but also lasted a long time. The first two boots are so cool and look like a lasting RATE investment..

Thanks everyone! I might try them if they have them in the store, maybe just to see which size I would need in case they go on sale. You're right that one pair of great shoes is better than a few mediocre ones, but these are almost as expensive as a great new coat! Not sure if I can afford them. But they are great.
