Thigh length?

Whatever length my pea coat is, I have often had the issue shown here (but fully attired) of my skirt sticking out an awkward couple of inches below the hem. With 1.5 or 2” heels, I find the length of this dress and skirt very comfortable.

Lovely coat, it’s longer than knee length, perhaps even midi-length (mid calf).

The coat - pea coats are shorter (usually hip/upper thigh length) - looks fine with the dress/skirt hanging out below! It's a pretty common way to wear them now. Not awkward at all.

I like the look here, actually I find the proportions excellent. Ankle boots or knee boots would look terrific if you have them and it is not too hot for them.

I actually prefer the look where the bottom of the skirt is visible so I think this is fine. I think it adds visual interest vs. just black coat + black boots or whatever. Plus when you can't see a hem I always think flasher, lol.

The lengths of coat and skirt look fine, even cute.

Agree with lisap that this coat is not a peacot--peacots are shorter (as you will see if you google it).

What the others said! Not a pea coat, more like a trench style and it looks fine over the skirt...although I always personally find it awkward having grown up in a time when showing skirts beneath coats was frowned on. It works here because the cut of skirt and coat are similar and the colours are find together. But sometimes you run into a situation of wrong cut or clash of colours.

And yes, this coat is midi-length (below the knee) not thigh length....

Interesting. I would have classified both a pea coat and a trench coat by their fabric more than anything, and they each have a classic color.

To have the skirt longer than the coat is totally fine. I like Sal's suggestion of knee-high boots with that outfit.

What a fantastic coat. Skirts showing below a proper coat like this is ‘correct.’ And it’s a proper coat, no qualifier like ‘pea’ or ‘trench.’

I like the look and the purple skirt too. Having said that, I've noticed in my fashion magazines esp my fave one " Simply You" that the stylist I like best ( Louise Hilsz) tends to put the coats at the exact same length as the dress She is an awesome colour matcher too, she will have say a floral dress and pick out one of the colours in the print perfectly for a plain coat in the same colour. Her chosen images are such works of art. She adores colour in her clothing as well and usually dresses very brightly!
