These shoes: Worth breaking SYC?

I've had these shoes bookmarked since summer. They are now on sale, and there is only one pair left in my size. I have very few summer shoes that are not along the lines of Tevas or Keens.

I need to know:

Are these shoes a 10?
Could I find something similar later on?
Are they versatile and suitable for this spring's fashions?

Please be honest as it was one of my SYC rules to poll here before making any purchase! I can stand not to buy them, but I don't want to regret it like I did the Halogen skirt...

Buy them. We will decide whether they are a 10 on your feet when you model them.

I know Angie's the expert, but they look really clunky to me. And I personally would shy away from a black sandal for spring/summer. Just my 2 cents.

Una, Go for it! I would not let SYC get in the way of a purchase only to regret it later.

I think if you have to ask the question then you don't love them enough to break SYC. I don't think they are particularly special- stay strong Una!

I guess the question would be what hole would they fill in your wardrobe? I agree that they dont look particularly summery, perhaps something similar in a tan would be nice?

This one is easy for me...no. They're too chunky, and I feel like they would overwhelm your foot. But, I hesitate to disagree with Angie...

Did you get them? Because I have learned that sometimes, when you post an item here (especially if there is one left), they disappear before you can buy them ... ask Maya, it's happened to her too!

I love 'em! Love the platform sole and the little square detail. Black sandals are a mainstay for me in the summer; I wear them all the time. And with your black hair, perfection! Buy them and take some pics!

I don't know about the angled platform and square toe shape. I had a pair of sandals very much like that--purchased in 2001 or so, worn heavily, and already long gone. I guess some of these shapes come around again and again, though. My own advice would be to stay on the SYC wagon!

What were your original reasons for starting SYC? Would this purchase be a "cheat" or would it be in line with your original intentions?
Another thought - can you identify at least 3 spring/summer outfits that these shoes would be perfect for?

If you've been eying them for that long, and they would fill a hole in your wardrobe, then it's worth a shot. My reasoning is that a wardrobe hole is a long-term goal, and it will make it easier to SYC in the summer.

Black sandals are a summer staple for me. Are they worth breaking SYC? Only you can answer that. If you've been eyeing them for awhile, they might be.

I'm not generally a fan of black sandals for the summer for me they are too harsh. These also look rather chunky, however I never say never! so I vote buy them and post piccies x

Thanks all. I am 100% Teams Clunky and Black, so these would probably fit right in to my summer style. I think I will pass, though, only because there are ALWAYS more shoes in the world! Appreciate all the support.

Ladies. They might be too clunky for you but they are totally Una's style if you have been noticing her footwear look. Its important to think for the wearer and not your own style

My decision remains unchanged. Shoes are hard. Try them and return them if they are not a 10.

Well I broke SYC for a wardrobe hole that took me months to find. I would have been crushed if I passed on a long waited item. If this is the case for these sandals go for it. I don't mind the thick sole on these and agree with Angie, they fit with YOUR style.

Oh, Angie - I am giving you a big cyber-hug from 2000 miles away. I noticed that the "Team Chunky Shoe" post generated very clear divisions where other Team posts don't.

So I am going to order them and see if they work with anything I own, AND of course post photos here for opinions. These have been in my "saved" list for 9 months! And finding summer shoes is not my strength, as I don't like them as much as boots.

Order them, Una! If they fit with your style and are on super-mega sale, it is worth breaking the SYC.

I lasted on the SYC wagon until I found the cutest purple dress one month in and fell right off. Non, je ne regrette rien!

I think these will fit your style perfectly too, Una. Especially since you've been wanting them for 9 months, and still want them, they're worth picking up; you can always send them back if you don't like them. Hope they work out for you!

I think they will work well with the upcoming styles (wide leg pants!). Since they are returnable, you don't have that much to lose.

I would wear something like these. In fact I own a pair with a similar feel from I-Don't-Know-When. I am going to pull them out again.
