I was musing over these odd, half-d'Orsay booties on Pinterest yesterday and, lo and behold, we ended up walking behind a woman wearing them in downtown Denver last night, and I really liked them on a real person.

Interesting shoes have become an essential part of my wardrobe, and I'm seriously considering these, as an alternative to my fallback ballet flats. What do you all think?

Angie - I'd say they're on the high end of average. I don't have a lot of shoe-fit problems, but when I do, it's often because of tightness on the top of my feet.

I have looked at those online in sandal form and love them -- does LisaP have them, I think? But I wondered if they would work on a slightly low volume foot.

I like the looks of both. They look like they could get good wear if they are comfortable. I often find the heel on such a shoe too sharp against the back of my foot, so it may depend on the softness of the leather.

They're really cool. I agree with angie that they require a high instep/high volume foot though. It actually looks to me like the model's foot doesn't fill it out enough. I am very sensitive to that issue though, as a lot of shoes tend to look like boats on my feet due to the fact that my instep can't fill them out.

I really like them. My first thought seeing the dove grey, though, reminded me of my white saddle shoes when I did a bad job polishing them!

I like the sandal version , personally. But why do they look so loose at the ankle?

I think they are adorable but I have problems wearing pointy toed shoes these days, and the back looks so high, I fear it'd rub annoyingly.

delurked - There's rub (pun intended). They have to work without socks, although with could be an interesting fall look.

Diana - I can honestly say that's a problem I've never had. We are shoe twins, but not foot twins!

JAileen - Hah! I would get the cognac color, but I never wore saddle shoes, so I'm thankfully free of that association.

LisaP and Janet - I think that was why Angie noted it would work on a high instep. They look loose at the ankle because the model's foot doesn't fill them out.

The color I like best is sold out in my size at the moment, so I have some time to think.

Adorable shoe, but it would be a killer on a low volume foot like mine.

I think these are so cool. Both the boot and sandal version. Yes, a great alternative to your ballet flats!
