These dresses w/sneaks; yes/no?

It's too hot to wear closed shoes now, but if we have a chilly day (not uncommon here), I want to be ready! These are three new dresses that I wanted to try dressing down. The last one I had originally left behind last week because I thought it was too sexy for me, but today I realized that sneakers could help bring it down a few notches. Is it still too much for casual wear?

Am I doing this right? Or would these be better with pure white sneakers? Also, do you think I need the tie belt for the pink dress?

ETA: I updated the photos to include my head. I had originally posted photos cropped from the neck down, but carambola brought up the idea of a bookending effect with my hair, so I uncropped the photos. I didn't think it made a difference, but obviously I'm still learning! And now I see it -- the darker shoes (which are purple) DO look better if you can see my dark hair. Interesting!

I like 1 with the snake, 2 with the black and 3 with the jacket. Super job dressing down the dresses.

I don't think the pink dress is too sexy at all (I do prefer it without the tie). I like the snake sneaks best across the board, but the look with the jacket is my favorite!

I like #2 and #3 the best with sneakers, and I like the dark sneakers best with those outfits. I l also like the light sneaks with the jacket in #3. Nice way to dress down your dresses!

I love all 3 dresses on you with the sneaks. My favorites being 1 and 3. Really love the pink and black together. Nice way to toughen a girly color. Also, I think the dress in 3 is definitely sexy ... But in a good way! I love the way you have styled it with the jacket and sneaks. I think a jean jacket would look lovely too. Or just a pretty scarf for hot days.

I love them all except left side in the nr 1-the irregullar juxtaposition there feels a bit too much/harsh. Otherwise great finds! YLF!

These look great! I prefer the pink with no belt, and the snakes. #2 with the darker shoes. And #3 with the jacket, and snakes. But if you are going w/o jacket, with the darker shoes.

Pastrygirl, I am a bigger fan of the snakeskin sneakers all the way through -- love them especially with the pink dress and at the end with the jacket. I'm not sure if that says anything about the black sneakers really, or is just because right now I happen to be enamored of the sleek look of the slipons. My cons have sat unworn all summer!!!! I've worn my slipons a few times with dresses -- but not as dressy as these -- and love the look. You've inspired me to try even more!

Thanks, all! The black sneakers are actually purple, but I did wonder about the dark contrast being too much. I fell in love with those Cons once I made them laceless, so I'm trying to find other ways to wear them.

Is there a skirt/dress look that would work really well with the darker shoes?

Cute, all of them. I like the darker shoes with the second dress and the snakeskin with the other two. Love the very last look with the bomber. I also think the dark sneakers may look better when your head is visible because your dark hair might help bookend.

I like the black sneakers with dress one and three because of the color of your hair. (the bookend effect). I also like the visual interest of the laces.

Interesting! Without your head, I had a definite preference for the snakeskin sneakers with the pink dress, but with your gorgeous dark curls visible, I think both versions are great. Re: tie vs. no tie, I like the dress better without the tie as a dress on its own and with the snakeskin sneakers (agree with viva that those are more refined), but I kind of like how the tie gives it a more casual feel with the darker sneakers.

Hey, I just realized that the "sexy dress" didn't jump out at me, which one was it? i like the light sneaks with the first dress, the dark sneaks with the second and either with the third. All of them look great to me! You really rock the dresses pastrygirl--and your curls are looking bodacious!

clearlyclaire -- the last one, the black v-neck/ruched dress is the "sexy" one. BUT it's good that you didn't notice it in particular! I think it might be all in my head; that maybe it's not as unsuitable for everyday wear as I initially thought. I hope so, at least!
