awww Thank you so much for asking Louise and that link Sharon! I'd heard the flooding was making news overseas...
Sharon is right, I live near Rockhampton - where I live is perfectly safe and I'm not being affected here. But yes, Rockhampton is expecting a peak in the river sometime tomorrow - it will be one of the top 5 flood heights I think I heard The city is now completely isolated - all roads out and the airport and rail lines are under water. And my only way out of where I live is via Rocky so, I am stuck too.
Lots of lower lying suburbs there have been evacuated and my brothers girlfriends beauty salon is under water - luckily she got everything out in time.
The town of Emerald was almost entirely under water last weekend, I used to live there and 3 of the 4 homes I lived in were completely flooded, so it makes for some very vivid images when I picture my homes under water
The biggest things I'm dealing with are crazy people in the shopping centres panic-buying - we have barges with trucks full of food coming, so there is not going to be any shortage of food, but you'd swear there the supermarkets were going to close down and never reopen the way people are behaving there. And my service station was almost out of fuel on Friday, but I believe they got a truck through on Saturday before the roads were closed.
At this stage they are predicting 10 days - 2 weeks before the roads are open again... But we had a massive storm last night so I'm hoping that rain hasn't caused any more issues.
Sharon how are you and all the other Brisbane girls going? I've heard you've been dealing with massive tides causing flooding in conjunction with all this rain we've had?
It's certainly dampened the high spirits usually experienced at this time of year
