So forgive me if a little frustration leaks into this post.
We have a new version of the iPhone app ready for you. Some kind people from the forum have been testing it for a while now. It is a lot like the previous app in functionality, but adds some important things.
- It can post to any of the primary forum categories. The "urgent" option still exists, but it isn't the only one.
- Posts are not limited to three photos.
- Replies can also have photos, like here on the website.
- Finds appear as attachments.
- It is a big visual update that is in line with the new look of YLF.
But Apple rejected the app (your app needs to be approved by them to appear in the store), and then rejected my appeal of that decision.
Their reason is that there is no way in the app for users to report objectionable posts. This was true with the previous version too, but that was approved. Back then we explained that we have moderation features on the website, and since everything that is posted from the iPhone app appears on the website too (where you can report it and we can moderate it), we did't think we needed to clutter the app with these features.
Well, what was ok then is apparently not ok any more. So it looks like we won't be able to release the app without adding these features. They are non-trivial features, so it will take some time.
In the meantime, if you have an iPhone and would like to use the app, please just PM me and give me the email address associated with your Apple ID. Then I can sign you up as a beta tester. There is a limit but I can accommodate quite a lot of people this way.
