Theory 'Indra' pants: K/R? - YouLookFab Forum

After a few years in Frock-ville, I've started looking at pants again, and really loved these Theory pants when Angie posted them as a part of her picks recently. I'd wear them with heels and a slouchy sweater:

So, I stalked them and bought a pair. A few things: as Angie warned, they really are for the straight of figure. The waist is a bit big and I'd need to have them taken in slightly. Second, I missed the fact that they're unlined (for an RRP of $285, this makes me nuts) and they're ever so slightly scratchy. Third, I suspect that they give me pancake butt.

On the plus side, I love the slim cut, the cool cuffs, and the micro check. But even on sale, they're expensive and need to be a 10 to justify alterations.

Thoughts?

These are very cool, and I don't see pancake problems. I loved the fabric description when they were featured, but from the fit description, I ruled them out for me. If you are going to wear pants, these are very good-looking, with the alterations needed ( I don't think there are any pants, hardly, for which that can be avoided).

But, yes, it is maddening for them to be unlined. Having said that, I recently bought a pair of unlined wool flannel pants to get a certain fit and color, and said the same--how on earth could you make unlined flannel pants? But I decided not to do any duplicating, even at a sale price, until I really see how they feel, wrinkle and so forth on full days of wear. So you'll have to really decide about the itch factor. It can be something that you don't realize until after several hours into it.

I think the fit looks great - I don't see any pancake butt. But I can not abide scratchy clothing, it would make me always reach for something else. Would you be able to wear a pair of leggings or Cuddl Duds underneath, or would that be too warm?

I think they are more than a 10, from what I can see in the photos. Modern and stunning. Your rear is riveting, and the waist looks just fine. But they might feel loose when you wear them, though. That we can't judge from the photo.

The scratch-factor could be a deal breaker. That's the only part I would worry about. Make sure that's okay before you commit.

I love them! They don't add volume to the rear, no, but very few dress pants will have flap pockets. And the ones that do probably won't look this cool.

Oh, I'm afraid that's not a "starter" or "placeholder" price point! How about find a less expensive ( cheap!) pair while you are awaiting that perfect fit.

They look great but you are the one who can best judge how they feel when you wear them.
If you got them at Nordstrom you can get free alterations.
Also, the link shows them for $228. Maybe they can make an adjustment for you?

Beth, the fit is sensational on you, and the cut is modern and fresh. Definitely a 10! That is so maddening that they would be unlined and scratchy at this price point. Will you be wearing them for work, and will you be comfortable spending a long day in them?

I'm glad you all like them! I have a pair of silky long johns (actually, they're Cuddle Duds!) that I might try layering underneath to see how it goes. I'm not usually sensitive to wool, so there's a chance I'll acclimate to the wool rather than get itchier.

Finding pants that actually fit well is such a pain! Suz, I usually wear a 4 in Banana Republic or Ann Taylor, and these are a 6. Angie is spot-on when she says they're cut for straight silhouettes; I don't have a very defined waist and these are still a bit too big in the waist. Otherwise they fit beautifully. If they'd been lined, it'd have been a home run!

They look incredible. The scratchiness would be a dealbreaker for me, but Cuddl Duds are a great idea!

Gorgeous! I prefer unlined pants, because I find lined versions a little hot. The fabric has to have enough integrity to not bag out,
