The Universe Correcting Things

Some of you may remember that I wrote last year about my husband stepping down from management after a toxic consulatant came in and was trying to sabotage him. He went back into sales and literally kicked butt! He was on pace to do a million in sales for the company this year.
Unfortunately the toxic consultant has finagled his way into the company and is messing everything up. His personality lost them their production crew and now what remains is subpar and having installation issues that are beyond ridiiculous and unacceptable. In addition the marketing manager died two months ago and this consultant always says, "we are looking for the right person" and puts an incompetent employee in the position. So needless to say the marketing was failing.
My husband had his worst month in September but still sold more than the other 4 guys put together. So the consultant chose this time to lower their commission, which would have resulted in a 40k to 50k loss for DH. All the salesman demanded a meeting to address all the issues. After two attempts with no resolution, they scheduled a third. Upon which they told the other sales guys to go with the consultant and DH to stay with the son in law who was given this company with no experience or abiility to run it, which allowed for the malignant narcisstic consultant to swoop in and declare total loyalty. As soon as the others left, the owner said , We are terminating you, I need your key and kit" The other sales guys were convinced he was getting a higher commission rate and they all thought he deserved it and felt no resentment. My husband was stunned and when asked "Why" he was told, "I am not ghoing to discuss it" It seems that the consultant believes he was leading the others in the calling of meetings, when in fact the ones not making money were the stronger people and ones wriing up the meeting agendas and approaching them. It's so unbelievealbe to never have ever had a complaint at all from either the owner or consultant and in fact to be told he was amazing employee, to end up here with them even calling the police as he calmly again asked why..... The marketing staff is scared as bonusses from his sales kept them above minimum wage status. The sales team thinks they have lost their minds and want to know who is going to run the 66 leads a month my husband use to run.They cannot believe that they could kiss $700,000 sales guy for no cause. One guy who is DH friend already saw that the issues won't be fixed and jumped ship. This leaves them with two sales guys. I would say Karma is at play except that I can see the consultant closing the homesales department and saying they can make it up in commercial sales and still hanging in with the owner who has no idea what he's doing...

Well within 26 hours he had another job and this company is run by a guy who does things exactly like my husband would. He is also much better equipped to run this type of company and in fact had hired my husband at the other place and left a month later to start his own. The timing is even hilarious as he is opening his second office and has already mentioned management opportunities to my husband and is treating him like his equal. DH is so grateful now as he would not have made this move , yet.

So in the end , DH finally got away from a sinking ship and is in place with someone who values employees and too felt the ungratefulnees of that owner.

My mother in law is a malignant narcissist so getting away from this situation is imperative for ,my husband's peace of mind.

Congrats to your husband! What a huge relief to be free of such an intolerable situation.

You lost me at the end with mention of your MIL...how was she involved in this?

Carter the situation between the malignant narcissist consultant and the owner who is in over his head and needs the consultant echoes my in laws very unhealthy marriage. Being caught in the middle has been hard on all the employees but especially so for DH.

So happy for your husband. I am always reminding my adult kids that sometimes what looks like a problem is actually the right door opening. It often proves true.

So pleased for you and your DH. I honestly believe that by operating with integrity and grace we can't loose. Sounds like your husband is in a much better job now where he will be respected, encouraged and appreciated.

Thanks everyone! Yes, this owner has been in business of his own for two years and has been doing ok... but my husband's sales in the previous company represent what his current team does all together in one month...He sees his value and is making sure to take good care of him, checking in to make sure of it. He offered DH a 3 month trial period before he signs a non compete in order to show him that his company is everything he said it was. So far, so good!
