The two categories that don't appear in the "Latest" view

Can I just whine for a moment about the Off Topic and Style Exchange categories being segregated from the rest of the forum?

I had gotten in the habit of only looking at the Latest view. I didn't even realize there were now two topics that didn't appear there.

It seems to me that forum regulars label their posts appropriately, and that we can all decide whether or not to open and read a thread labeled "OT" or "SE" (Style Exchange) or something else that alerts the reader that the post isn't a fashion comment.

Am I in the minority in wanting everything in one place?

I actually prefer this new way. If I want to quickly see what is going on in the forum fashion-wise, I don't like having to wade through some of the OT things. I have noticed, that with the OT category, people are posting even more OT stuff. I would be mildly annoyed if some of it were on the main page.

April, the OT posts were becoming extremely off topic and overly frequent - which I think happened very much during your YLF hiatus. This is a fashion and style forum and I am very much in favour of the separate "views".

YLF has become a place where people can support each other about non-style related topics, so it was equally important that this sense of community stay strong and consistently supportive. This is why OT threads are still part of this forum.

Personally, I really appreciate the separation of the style posts from the OT posts and thinks it makes alot of sense.

I agree with Shannon, Angie and QM. The separation makes very much sense and was a good decision.

I think the separation makes good sense, although I also agree, April, that it takes some getting used to. I frequently forget to check the OT threads and the Style exchange. It is just a new process to learn to check occasionally if I have time.

I also appreciate the separation. I tend to feel awkward with very personal things being posted on the main page, I can start to feel that it's rude if I don't comment or offer condolences or such. O/T I can choose to go and share there or not.

I think the decision to create an off topic area was the right way to handle the social side of the forum. To visit, or not to visit, this area is left to the discretion of the forum member.
