I had a funny experience which naturally ended up in me buying a pair of shoes. I had popped in a local shoe boutique to check out sandals, and nothing was particularly grabbing me…except these Jeffrey Campbell Everly booties. Yeah, not exactly sandals, right? I always liked the solid version Everlys just fine, but for some bizarre reason, I really was smitten with this woven version. Maybe because it seems more wearable to me for warmer weather than other cutout style booties. In fact, the store was quite warm when I tried them on, and they felt surprisingly breezy.
Well, the store had two pairs left -- a 6 and an 8 (my size), so of course it felt like fate. But after I tried on the shoes and was looking around, considering them, the SA just happened to look at the shoe size, and lo and behold, the shoes are two different sizes -- an 8 and an 8.5. She called their sister store, and no, no other 8s or 8.5s were to be found. They even called the customer who bought the 8.5s to see if her pair was mismatched. Nope, hers were fine.
I would never have known these shoes were two different sizes by feeling or looking at them on my feet. Maybe because my left foot is slightly larger than my right, the difference actually works in my favor? At any rate, they sold them to me with a significant discount because of a size discrepancy I never would have noticed, were it not for a diligent SA!
This is not a K/R. I have fallen for these shoes. I have black booties, yes, but I think these will actually be wearable for me before October! I even kinda like how they look with shorts and dresses. Please note, these are not actually styled in the photos, just thrown on with what I'm wearing today -- however, I would consider wearing them with a shorts outfit that includes some black for bookending.
What do you think? I guess I'm asking more about how they look with bare legs, because I'm keeping them even if it's just to wear with jeans and pants. I know I'm really pale, so it's going to be high contrast, but I think I'm OK with that. Also, I think we discussed somewhere on here before whether it looks OK to wear these with black socks when the weather cools, and I think it would be fine. What do you think?
