Once upon a time, there was a sassy Shoemaker’s Elf who loved sandals. She would trip about in flat sandals with some interesting detail and feel faerie- like, especially if they were sparkly or shiny. In 2016 she found some unexpected shiny green ones in a woodland glade aka a factory shop sale and she loved them.
But an elf likes lots of shades of green so she wanted olive ones too. She looked for a long time and in 2021 she finally found the perfect comfortable pair with a knot detail. She wore them 96 times, but alas after a holiday to the woodlands and beaches of Tropical North Queensland they somehow became stained with yellowish bleached-looking drips. They did not look faerie-like.
The elf went to her favourite shoemakers, Styletread. They had some, a little bit plain to the elf’s eyes, and maybe too close in colour to the 2016 sandals. They also poked a bit far past the end of her toes. The elf did not want to trip in a different way!
She tried a different shoemaker. In a far distant store there was one size higher than her usual, said to run small. The store magicked them to the elf for a courier fee with no obligation to buy.
The elf tried them and asked her consort Oberon aka Neil which of the pairs he liked. He said “the sparkly ones with holes”. They also fit better and are cheaper, leather.
Happiness! The elf may trip about to her heart’s content and Styletread will take the Rollies back.
