The Spirit of the Festive Season

I'm posting this in the main part of the forum, just because

The Stellenbosch University Choir from Cape Town has been named best choir in the world. (Greg is from Cape Town, I lived there for 12 years, was married there, and went to the University of Cape Town. We also lived there through the apartheid years and saw things change). Like Hong Kong - Cape Town holds a special place in my heart. It brought tears to my eyes and shivers up my spine to hear the news, see the choir, and hear the choir sing. THIS is the spirit of the festive season. Inclusion, diversity and giving with a full heart.

It has been a hard year for sooo many people. The natural disasters in the US and Mexico have been absolutely devastating to say the least. Giving in whatever way you can at the end of the year is what makes the festive season what it is.

Thank you for posting this wonderfully exuberant video. It reminds me of an old friend from S Africa. There was an Amnesty International campaign for him, and then he had to flee the country. Before all that, he had sung in the cathedral. When he sang me Nkosi Sikelel' iAfrika, it brought me to tears.
I agree with you fully; with all that is happening in our world, we need to be active in working for good. Thanks for posting.

The South African choir were beautiful and joyful in every way....it is the way of the future and absolutely inspirational. My sons are part of very multicultural schools and at this time of the year the Tongan choir, the Maori Kapa Haka and the singing is magnificent.

Being a 1970 child as well "Do they know it is Christmas" has a very soft spot in my heart too - I had the single (on vinyl) and played it over and over again. And while I like Simon Le Bon (and the way he has lived his life), the Bono solo is the one that gets me in this video. Summer of 84 here was all about US "Pride in the Name of Love" and when I discovered Madonna as well.

Thank you for your part in bringing people who are located around the world together. We may have very different lives, but share a love of style and fashion together.
