I was so psyched about Sun Tiger’s sock drawer that I looked up how to Kondomari mine. https://www.google.com/amp/s/w.....=undefined
Her finished product looks very neat & tidy. But if she wears a pair, the others will sag a little. By the end of the week, they’ll be lying down left and right. Let 2 weeks go by before washing that load of laundry & it’s mayhem.
I have sorted my things into tight categories—socks, tights, leggings, undershirts, bodysuits, layering tops, layering turtlenecks, cardigans, pullovers. Now I’m trying to figure out what to do with them. The undershirts and bodysuits have already been combined, and some pullovers have moved in with the cardigans. Scandalous! It’s been nearly 10 years since we lived in a place with real winter. I think the way I used to store this stuff was much more generic “underwear drawer” and “sock drawer”, but I’d like to keep things a little more sorted now. For the past few years, I had a dresser with teeny drawers that forced me to keep bras, socks, underpants & swimsuits each in their own drawers. I liked that. It was simple to pull out what I needed.
Inhabitants of cold places, who walk across campuses or commute on foot, bike,’or public transit, what do you do with all this stuff? If you use drawer organizers, which ones do you like, and why?
To be honest, things may be grouped together, dumped &/or stored in shoeboxes stacked in the wardrobe, as long as we are here. But come January, we sure better be moving into our own place, so whatever advice I get here will also be used in setting up my closet. And I do mean setting it up. The older type of apartment I want to get doesn’t have any kind of space set aside for clothes storage or built-in closets. I’m thinking of using Ikea’s Ivar shelving for most of my wardrobe, along with a chest of drawers for the smaller bits, but I haven’t worked out the details of exactly what I want to get. All the sorting & counting today should be helpful in figuring that out.
