Thanks for the thoughts, Suz. Interesting examples that make sense. When you wake up a workhorse by having the right support act, it WORKS!
I personally don't experience this with bottoms. I'm an early adopter of bottoms trends, and milk them right away.
That said, I've experienced the sleeper workhorse phenomenon with some toppers!
1. Peachy Toffee Moto: Had it for years. Wore it regularly. Over the last few years, I wear it A LOT more now that my hair is darker, and have toffee shoes and belt. It's a hard working workhorse.
2. Blush '70s Jacket: That's new this Spring, and I didn't think I'd wear it that much. I almost returned it. Asked hubs Greg what he thought of the colour - and he loved it. Turns out I reach for it sooo much more than I thought I would because it works extremely well with blues, whites, and sour brights, and my pink specs! It's VERY versatile for transitional weather.
3. Denim Blazer: This is 15 years old, and was seldom worn. Turns out I need to wear it with a slippery long silk blouse to work - (less friction on the sleeves) - and now I have a lot of the right blouses!
