The skinny on skinnies (pants, not jeans)

I'm discovering that I really do need these in my closet. I've tried a few pair on and have come to realize of late that these would fill a huge gap in my wardrobe.
My favorites so far have a price tag of $150, so I was wondering if anyone has seen or tried the Gap Really Skinny skinnies?

LOL, I just ordered the Gap Skinnies for the same reason! I will let you know how they work. I can't wear leggings or skinny jeans to the office, but I would like to wear that silhouette sometimes to go with some of my more "tunic-y" looks.

I am not sure if they are still making them but the BR Martin Fit skinnies were great last spring for the same purpose.

Yeah, I definitely want skinny pants more like ponte knit. I tried these

and there is nothing wrong with them other than I want to pay less. I may end up getting two pair if I wear them as often as I plan.

I own the BR Martin Fit in black and I know many on YLF do too. Am wearing mine today, in fact, to the office. They are incredible--hold their shape, are comfortable to wear and reasonably priced. I saw someone here post a pic wearing the grey ones and clearly she had gone up a size because they fit was quite roomy through the legs. Mine fit a bit more like legging, though not so fitted through the calf and ankle. I particularly like them with long cardigans.

Sarah, run to the Gap site and order the really skinnies pants right now!!!!!
I just got mine and love them beyond reason. Even more flattering than the BR Martin Fit but made of the same fabrication, that stretch but snap back.

I am wearing them now and will try to get some pictures. Meeting a friend in a bit!

Sarah, my suggestion is that you try these pants in person unless you can get free shipping. I bought a pair of perfect trouser pants made with the same fabric. I absolutely abhor the fabric on this entire line of GAP pants. It is some sort of blend of all synthetic fibers, that stretches out beyond recognition.

I generally don't like polyester and suffocate in this kind of fabric blend. I am not sure why I bought these pants in the first place

EDIT: I just rechecked the fabric content listed per your link and it seems that it's a different blend - I am not sure thought, I remember seeing these in the store and it is the same fabric of my pants. Other than the fabric issue ( if there is an issue), they look great!

I also had a fabric issue with the Gap skinnies. I tried them on in the store and loved them. Then I wore them around the house for an hour when I got home and they started bagging out badly so I returned them. Too bad, because I loved how flattering they were! Also, they don't have back pockets so I felt they were a bit too like leggings for me to wear as pants.

The ladies at Academic Chic have been wearing skinny pontes from Ann Taylor, but I haven't tried them yet.

Sarah, I went into Gap today to try on the Real Straight jeans and I also tried on the really skinnies just for the heck of it. I liked the fabric and feel of both of them, but the rise was just a little too low for me.

Edit: Ha! Disregard everything I just said! Just realized we were talking pants, not jeans. Now I am intrigued...does anyone know what the rise is on the pants?

Debora, the rise on the Gap skinny pants covered my ample dupa just fine so the rise was good for me.

Zapotee, the skinnies are a different fabric from the other Gap perfect pants. I love the modern bootcuts too but these were a very pleasant surprise. My friend also got the perfect trousers and returned them because they stretched and bagged, but I haven't had that happen with the bootcuts.

Elizabeth I haven't experienced any bagging issues with the skinnies but I just wore them out to dinner/shopping tonight. I will try to wear them tomorrow for a full day to see how it goes. I actually like the pocket-less backside; I intend to wear them with tunics so the lack of flaps there is helpful.

I tried the Gap real straights and felt the fabric was too think for what I wanted - with a skinny on an overly curvy bottom I like some thickness! Not sure if the skinny are the same or not...

I got the BR Martin skinny in grey, and just recently had a coupon so ordered them in black but they are on back order until the end of Oct. I do like them although they are more of a straight than a skinny. I can make them work for tucking if I'm vigilant. I like the fabric and the rise.

I've also heard the black Martin skinnies are looser fitting than the grey, FWIW.

Kirsten - Thank you for clarifying. I must have confused the real skinnies Sarah posted with some other pants. I am glad your friend was able to return the perfect trousers. I wore them so I'm stuck

Sarah - Just throwing a cheaper option: I have a version of these pants made by H&M, that I bought to try the style out. I have worn them a couple times and they are really flattering. However,I felt a little exposed, due to the thinness of the fabric. I need more coverage via a thicker fabric.

Wow, I'm going to order those pants right now! My smaller local store doesn't have them (I bet the store further south in Barton Creek Mall may, but it's just as convenient to order - plus I can use Ebates).
Zapotee, would you believe we don't have an H&M? It's crazy. It's one of my must stops whenever I visit family in Seattle.
