Do you have one item in your closet that completely represents your style at present?

I had to think about this. I almost wanted to say it was my Vince rib turtleneck sweater, but then I decided it was this Derek Lam 10 Crosby blouse instead.

My style adjectives are: Soft, Calm, Classic, Fresh, Light

I think this blouse has all those qualities. The only part I think people might question is the classic, but I interpret the lace as the classic touch, even though it is used in a fresh way. When I wear this, I feel like I am totally me, and it is totally correct.

So, what is your single item??!

BOTH are breathtaking. I literally cannot decide which I love more.

I would go a different way. I would select a pair of pants as my signature. I bought these because someone on the Forum wore them in a WIW. The minute I saw them, I knew I had to have them.

They fit me like a glove. They are long enough and they make me feel invincible in the work world. I can meet every challenge the world might throw at me in a single day. They are interesting enough that I "feel" unique. That is saying a lot.

Angie helped with a style moniker: cosy chic. Like Viva, I don't have adjectives but if I had to think of them right now, I would say: capable. While the pants are not "cosy chic," they do read "capable" to me. There is a disconnect here that I need to think about!!!!

This is fun -- and especially timely, as I am looking for ways to procrastinate. I need to get to work but it's Saturday and I really, really don't want to. Okay, just this one fun activity and then that's it!

So, I chose two things. My current style moniker is glam gamine. I don't really have adjectives but if I had to think of them right now, I would say: simple, sophisticated, playful.

While skinny jeans and cropped pants are the cornerstones of most of my outfits, these two items are really and deeply me. I think they embody the spirit of my current style.

And maybe that's why winter can be so challenging -- both pieces can be hard to wear at this time of year.

I think it would be fair to choose a summer and winter item, especially for those of us who live in areas where our seasons vary widely, so your two choices make perfect sense to me!

I'll have to think a little on this. What does it say that the first place my mind goes is 1) jackets and 2) footwear?

Easy! This CAbi zig zag jacket is my current "me" piece and am finding it to be my signature. Lightweight but cozy ponti; flattering buttoned or open; dresses up or down. 50th bday gift from my über fashionable BFF.

This is not an obvious choice, but I live in a rainy city and I can't think of a better one.

Here's my Ralph Lauren raincoat, the best coat I've ever owned or ever expect to. It's menswear but it fits me perfectly. It's beautifully made and completely waterproof. I love it for its minimal lines and classic distinction. It's the ideal marriage of form and function, the need for protection with the desire for great styling.

I found it in a second hand shop in mint condition in the summer of 2014 and it felt immediately like a familiar friend that I'd never met before. Looking back, I think it was a starting point in the direction I'm heading right now.

I'm always happy to put it on over more or less anything. To me, it's the platonic ideal of a winter coat, the coat by which all future coats will be judged.

Here's a representative one for me. Most things I'm wearing cuddle right up in a family with this sweater. My word is EASY...easy elegant, artistic, soft, and yes! (which stands for the love it factor I want to feel).

Great question. Mine would be a silk blouse/jacket from years ago. I love the color combination, silk fabric, the print, and I wear it year round, either as a jacket over a silk shell or even fitted cashmere sweater or buttoned up as a blouse; dressed up with a black sheath dress and pearls and pumps or down with jeans and flats. It was love at first sight and I paid full price but would do it again.

Tough choice but I would say the Theory Selata Blazer. Being the P-POD, professional princess of darkness with style mantra (Enduring classic) - elegant, classic, timeless, understated and unique. This is a beautifully cut boyfriend blazer which can be worn open and closed, works brilliantly with my preferred long over lean, has lovely contrast sleeve lining, can swing casual or formal, and pretty much all seasons. I define my style by the 5 B's - black, bob, belts, boots, blazers - but so this fills two roles from which the rest can be based. I would no be me, sartorially, with out a great long jacket!!

This is surprisingly easy for me. It's a winter white coat from Vnce - high quality lightweight wool with knitted sleeves. Casual elegance at its best.
What a good thread Staysfit. I should keep that coat in mind as a benchmark for future purchases.

what an interesting way to think about personal style…..i don't have a set of style adjectives, but i have an understanding of my personal style…classic with preppie undertones, but not staid….so i'm going to go with these pants, because at their barest they're just a pair of khaki's, but at their fullest they're so much more.

It is Summer here, so my choice would be a great pair of sling-backs I purchased at the start of the season.

This is such a great post. I found the Free People jacket and the Frye booties on the same day this fall at Nordstrom. They are actually closer in color than they appear as the jacket is a little darker. I would describe them both as stone blush. I have worn them over and over since purchasing. The stone blush suits my feminine tendencies and the pulls on the jacket zippers (front and arms) together with the style of the booties adds a chic and trendy feel to any outfit.

My black pleather moto vest. I would describe my style as Playful Arty Urban Prince, with Arty showing up only occasionally. I think its lack of sleeves makes the vest less serious (and more playful), and the moto style makes it urbanly androgynous. The leather vest I tried that same season didn't fit nearly as well. . . so I hope this one lasts for a long time and doesn't crack as pleather is prone to do.
