Pacific Northwest Ballet held its first rep with a live audience in 18 months. It was wonderful to be back in McCaw Hall to see my friends/colleagues as well as our regular patrons. There were approximately 500 fully vaccinated, mask wearing audience members who saw a fabulous matinee performance today. I have been a part-time usher/assistant head usher for 33 years and love my work. Please support the arts in your local community. The arts make us all better citizens.

I am in a strict lockdown with them hoping to vaccinate a significant proportion of the population. Before this lockdown I went to Lion King in a big auditorium....seems a world away and I'm looking forward to the day when we can once again go out and see live performances. Will be different with everyone masked too.

My sister and I had tickets to a concert last year...it was rescheduled and will finally be this coming Friday. We're excited...but alsowondering how crowded ot will be. It's outdoors, so I'm not sure what the protocauls are...

I went to a lovely (but outdoor) concert this summer, as will as play that was scheduled to be outdoors but moved inside due to a thunder storm…hoping to do/see more this year, but we’ll see. Now that I’m scheduled to be back at work, i need to decide how i feel about exposing so many people to the people I’ll be exposed to.

love that you are an usher, what a fab way to enjoy the arts, and have a built in reason to get dressed up.

Yes! My friend who runs an arts center has been very busy lately, because they are once again opening up to live events—so exciting! He just got the exec director job in August 2019, so his experience so far is mostly running it with distanced events, like pick-up kits for kids and online. So cool that he and all the artists (he’s a performer first & foremost) everywhere get to do their thing.

Big yay to supporting the performing arts! The only thing DH and I have done is that jazz concert, but said we really need to do more. We both used to do theatre too and would love to do it again.

My neighbor and I renewed our tickets for our local orchestra . She’s been going for fifty years. I started going when her husband couldn’t go any longer. I love the live experience. Considering the size of this town, we are very lucky to have such a professional group.

We also have had season tickets to our community theater. It doesn’t have the big sponsors the symphony has. I sent them money last year with hopes they would make it. They did! They are starting up again, and we’re planning to go.

Theatres are opening up here in Ontario too, thank goodness. We were lucky to attend four live performances over the summer - three outdoors with tented roofs, and the fourth inside. That one had staggered seating with the audience fully masked. We have three more shows booked for December, with more to come.

Yay!!! I am hoping my famjam can see "Come From Away" as our Christmas outing ... love live performances and it's so nice to see them coming back.

Amen! We have been enjoying the Hollywood Bowl and our local Pops orchestra outdoors this summer. Looking forward to (vax-required) indoor theatre starting in December.

Absolutely! Got tickets to the first performance by our Toronto Symphony Orchestra in November. Can’t wait! And so happy that my son and DIL are coming with us.

I am taking my daughter to see Wicked at the PAC in a city about an hour away at the end of October. It is the touring group who will be performing. We saw Hamilton there before lockdown, and we're very excited to go back. We're going to a matinee, so we're even playing hooky from school! I am sure everyone will be masked (including us!), but we're very happy to be able to attend.

And thank you, nuancedream, for supporting and encouraging involvement in the arts. My daughter is only 17, but will almost certainly be involved in the arts as an adult - either theater or visual arts. The arts can change people for the better and heal hurting souls.

Yes! Thank you. I miss live music but so far I’ve only returned to outdoor venues (will attend indoor ones that require proof of vaccination and masks). It’s been nice to return to art openings too. I think we will be masked up for some time yet, so I just ordered four new masks, since some of my old ones are getting kind of worn.

We went yo our community theater Friday night to see Waiting for Godot. It was the end of the run and so not very crowded. Everyone except the performers were masked, and everyone was vaccinated. The theater was set up in a U shape and we were the only ones on our side.

We saw Hamilton on Broadway 2 weeks ago and it was fantastic. NYC is doing a great job of requiring proof of vaccination, and we felt fine in the theater, which was filled (to capacity) with happy vaccinated and masked theater-goers. There was just a hum of excitement in the audience to be there - we all even applauded for the "turn off your cell phones" announcement!!! This weekend we are seeing live music in a small local venue and I seriously cannot wait. I am beyond grateful this venue survived the pandemic and I am happy to support them. Big thumbs up for the arts over here too.

I have been invited to a live taping of the Moth Radio Hour in Boston next week. Other than the 1 movie we have seen (also in Boston a few months ago), it will be my first indoor event. Masks and POV will be required.

I love the Moth!! Actually am excited about this. (And I do not use the word "excited" at all, ever, for any reason any more...)

I am going to a live jazz performance this Saturday with several other ladies and I am beyond thrilled. I am delighted that the bistro venue where this performance will take place has managed to survive the pandemic.

I attended my first real indoor event since early 2020. Was in Boston for my birthday and our son got tickets to The Moth. Is anyone in the US familiar with the Moth Radio Hour on NPR? People tell true stories about their lives, 10 minutes, no notes. They're usually told in front of live audiences and recorded, then curated for radio and the Moth podcast. This was the first live show outside of NY in 18 months.

On the sidewalk outside the theater our bags were searched, and we showed our vaccine cards (on phone), and ID. I believe they took enough time to match ID to evidence. Inside we were wanded with metal detectors. Everyone was fully masked through the whole event.

It was truly overwhelming to be in community again...and at such a special sort of event. There were 5 stories. I cried 4 times! Absolutely loved it.

Laurie, how wonderful that you were able to attend a live performance in Boston for your birthday with your son! I am not familiar with The Moth Radio Hour on NPR, but I will certainly check it out. I have been able to attend two live local jazz performances with my husband and friends. I'm totally a cheerleader for the arts!

I listen to The Moth every weekend. That would be really interesting to attend. The stories are so varied.

I’m an NPR junkie. Right now, I’m doing a Nielsen survey, for radio. It’s very easy to record, because I only listen to our local NPR station. Luckily, it’s pretty good. Years ago, I was a contestant on Wait Wait Don’t Tell Me.
