Firecracker--I saw a girl with a blazer and long Bermuda shorts, so I know that can be a great look. I also think crop tops look good this way, and especially an actual bustier. Would be super cute. I can almost get away with it, but I need a few more sit-ups.

Runcarla--share that article again, if you get a chance. I also think the "just a few great basics" and "stealth wealth/old money" trends over the past few years are an attainable way for regular people to get some degree of autonomy from an unreliable economy.

cat2--Oh, I know. Some of it I love, some I hate. That is great what you said about "quiet, calming colors and pieces." I don't know that we always register that, but it is a real reason people are drawn to classic, luxury looks. As for collegiate prep trend--I love it. Perhaps because it was the opposite of how I dressed myself growing up--more boho/mod.

JenniNZ--good to know I am not alone! And they really do carry meaning, so we should want to be wearing them. If you find that thread, link it!

Dee--thanks so much. Maybe I will get more fun blazers. I can think of celebrities like this, mostly men: Elton John, Elvis Costello, Elvis!

RobinF--a lot of people say a tee, I don't know if I could pull that off. But florals and plaid blazers--great. I think plaid, that is more muted, is a fantastic bridge between the loud blazers and the professional blazers.

Irina--that's what I'm saying. There are certain wardrobe items that feel a little forced on certain people, because they have such a strong point of view. For some it might be a blazer, for others leather pants.

LJP--love Missoni, and came across a few on my search. UES--Upper East Side? My goal neighborhood! Yes, and in the workplace, blazers garner a lot of attention. I met a classroom aide who liked to wear a blazer to work; unfortunately when people would come to the classroom they would assume she was the teacher.

Sisi--great idea! And it is so not precious, just a fun piece. So putting it with most anything is a good idea.

Suz--plaids are great! I came across a muted mustard and navy plaid on my search that was super tempting.
