The good news: if all goes well, it seems I WILL get my Nordstrom's order.

The bad news: I just got a call from Brooks Brothers who have not yet shipped an order placed last week. The items are no longer available and they seem to think my credit card was issued in Ghana. ??? This is quite disturbing. Even more disturbing is the fact that I will not get my shirts; even if they had them in stock, it's too late.

SO disappointed. I didn't just want - I NEEDED those shirts. Sigh.

so sad to hear....but i am taking notes for my visit at Xmas...I assume it will be all sold out by then!

Poor Suz! I have had so many troubles ordering across the border too; I just stick to my few main shops and that's it - sometimes it's easier to order from the UK! But then they just ding you with like $45 import fees. >__<

Oh no! I'm glad you are getting your Nordstrom's order, but am sorry about your Brooks Brother's order. Do they carry the shirts you want in Canada? There is a store in town here, maybe you could call them to see? Also, do you live close enough to the border that you can arrange shipment there? (sorry I don't know if you are too far for that)

So sad to hear about Brooks Brothers. That's disappointing that they took so long to respond.

I had huge problems ordering from Barney's. So they are off my list now. They seemed to think I lived in Ghana. I finally had all of my items shipped to my local post office street address which they recognized. Didn't recognize my home, my business, my PO box (at said post office) or my boyfriend's address!

Update...hubs is going to go out of his way to get them for me in-store...we are having them sent to the store. It may not work out anyway, but it is sweet of him to try.

Jem, yes - I could try to get them in Toronto but the prices are a lot higher. And since I order petites it would often be a question of ordering in there as well.

Pheew, At least Nordies is coming through! Suz, you and your husband are such troopers. What a sweetie to do all this leg work for you. I hope to see all your new purchases soon, the anticipation is killing me.

Taking notes. I think I'll stick to this side of the border.

Although why Blondo's - a great Quebec company - had to design a fantastic pair of boots as a Nordstrom's exclusive is beyond me. It seems so unfair to have a boot designed by a Canadian company out of reach.

How odd that a company with an international reputation as a luxury goods maker -- hence likely to appeal to an international customer base -- would have such trouble with a cross border purchase. And especially to Canada! It's not like they are sending it to a remote village in the jungles of Belize or something.

So excited to hear that you will get the items from Nordstorm soon. i don't know what you ordered but can't wait to see the loot. I was thinking about ordering some shirts from Brooks Brothers too, but seeing your experience I think I should wait until December when I actually go to USA and purchase from there.
