Your Mum's brooch sounds perfect. For this particular wedding and what you've heard the bride say, it sounds like she will be very happy with your outfit. Her comments make me feel that when my daughter marries in perhaps late 2019( not yet decided for sure) that I don't want her to feel that I've made her do anything at all that she doesn't totally want herself. My mother pushed us around somewhat at our wedding and although most of our wedding was exactly what we wanted that part is not a good memory.
I totally love both your dress and shoes. I'm not a denim jacket fan( have never owned one in my whole life) but want to see the brooch!

Lovely dress and cute shoes. I must admit that I don't like the thought of a denim jacket for a wedding--with the possible exception of a denim jacket in blush, pink or white. And to me, a CASTLE doesn't sound like a very rustic or informal place even if it lies on a hill ...

Thanks Jenni - I'm sure you will do alright when it comes to your daughter. The brooch looks like the one below, I think it's lovely.

The Cat - don't think Disney, it's more like the middle ages. Well, I still have a few weeks to make a decision. I guess I could always just wear a cardigan over it, but that feels just a bit too boring and predictable to me. If I find something dressier that still feels like fun with the dress I'll buy it.

Astrid, I can assure you that I don't associate castles with Disney.

I live in Scandinavia, where the countries are kingdoms, so to me, castles are places where real kings, queens, princes and princesses live. And some old castles which for practical reasons are no longer inhabited by royals are elegant museums. If you are invited to a party in/at a castle here, this is usually a rather formal event, unless you are told otherwise. In YOUR part of Europe it may be different, but generally speaking, people seem to be more formally dressed in Central Europe than in Scandinavia. That's why I was surprised you would wear a denim jacket to a wedding in a castle.

When I think about it, I actually remember to have seen some German castles that looked like rather rustic places. And I'll admit that "your" dress code sounds informal, so you'll possibly be ok in your denim jacket though it isn't festive. However, you asked what we thought ...

LOVE

Sooo great to see you in light shoes.

I love the idea of dressing up the denim with a brooch. And the dress is so lovely. Thanks for another look at your hair, too. I never tire of seeing your cut!

Thanks Astrid, what a gorgeous brooch!

Love the hummingbird brooch!

@The Cat
I didn't want to suggest you would! It's only that I realized after writing that the term "castle" can have quite different images associated with it. And in this case it's less Neuschwanstein and more the small local neighborhood castle. With folding tables and benches, walking around in the woods and a bonfire... I mostly mentioned the place because I realized that I will probably need to keep my jacket on most of the time. So it's definitely important to get it right!

Thanks Angie! Now that I can afford to spend more on shoes I don't have to always go with the safe choice (of black). And I definitely prefer light shoes with bare legs - the shoes were also available in black, but I didn't even think about it.

Thanks Viva! I still love my short hair - I don't have any urge to change things up. It still feels just right to me.

Agree Jenni - it's really pretty!

Thanks Denise!
