On my "Hewi goggles?" thread, several of you suggested that styling them might help you offer more informed advice.

So here they are. As I would expect to wear them... outfits I wish I had navy sandals for.

I'm still totally open to what you have to say. My body is fighting every hesitation I have with "But they're NAVY!"

(and if you didn't read the first thread, these are very comfortable, have a snakeskin leather part which does add a bit of interest, but I'm worried they are to "meh" or boring or frumpy. I do like them - but my navy sandal hewi goggles sees past many things when it comes to navy shoes)

I like them. Not every pair of footwear needs to make a statement. And, hey, they are NAVY. Except for some loafers, I've not seen navy for ages.

I didn't see your other thread but my first impression is that they look great in #4 with the skirt. I think they also work well with the pants. Maybe with the shorts you'd prefer something a little more rugged or casual? But it's a lot to ask of one poor shoe to do it all don't you think? Says she who has too many shoes...

I think they are fine if you want an every day, navy sandal, and if they are comfy. But they do skew a bit utilitarian, maybe because of the color itself...It's just too great a contrast with your skin so the sandals are thrown into sharp relief. I suspect I'd like them better if they were more neutral, especially with all those straps. Sorry, that's no help since you wanted navy!

Here's my two cents' worth...now that I've developed foot problems, comfort is absolutely key and if these are comfortable AND navy (your HEWI) then IMHO, they are a WIN and KEEP. I also agree with Joy's comment that not every pair of footwear needs to make a statement - you can make a statement with other items in the outfit.

For me, some items in my wardrobe need to make my heart sing while others need to "do their job", you know?

I am not sure that you need navy sandals for this outfits. They seems to me too distracting, with so many straps and high contrast, my eye goes streight to them.

In your original post I was wondering if these were a bit too utilitarian for your style. But seeing them with your intended outfits, they are exactly right. The straps add a bit of interest and keep them current looking. If they are comfortable, keep them. Also, navy.

I think they are great, and when it's hot out and you are trying to walk, comfort definitely comes first in my book. OK they are perhaps not for the runway, but we don't live on runways, do we?

There is absolutely nothing wrong with them. But I still see them as a little stodgy. Especially the side view. They suit a purpose, I see that, but style-wise, meh.

But....I know you are determined with these, and that's fine. I'm just giving you some push-back to make you work for them

I like them. I think my issue is that they are neither rugged nor delicate, and I prefer strong footwear statements. But that's how I skew, plus comfort is a huge factor. They look good to me with these outfits, and navy shoes are hard to find!

Thanks everyone! Just heading out of town to pick my girls up from camp, then going to the (internet free) cottage, so probably won't reply indepth. But I will definitely "chew on" everything you have said. I appreciate your feedback SO MUCH.

I'm on Team Cute for these sandals. I KNOW how killer comfy they are, so why would you not wear them? You styled them really well. I like them the least in #1 - a tad conservative - but the rest of the outfits are stellar because you incorporated a higher dose of fashion. Rock on.

Agree that you should go with comfort - and these are good. I actually quite like the snakeskin accents. I have a pair of Trotter sandals that are FAR from edgy or fashionable, but they've taken me all over Paris, San Francisco, Las Vegas and other cities. I would laugh at the end of the day how wonderful my feet still felt. And in photos they didn't look half bad

I like them! I agree with Shannon about comfort being key, and they are stylish as well. I like how they seem to echo what you're wearing in these outfits--the stripes in the tee, the tie-dye pattern in the skirt, the plain navy. They just seem to work seamlessly.
