The Muubaa leather jacket's here...

So it came today and I tried a few stylings with it. Now, first let me clarify and tell you that I already have a faux leather jacket in a blush tone that I got for £9.99 from a discount store last week, so it was interesting to compare the two. The Muubaa was bought on eBay for £100 btw.

The faux leather jacket is cut shorter at the back and the sleeves are too long. The Muubaa, jacket has perfect length sleeves, but is a tad longer at the back and the colour is more intense. I took photos of both to compare. I have to say that the fit on both jackets across the shoulders seems fine and they both fasten easily. The leather in the Muubaa is very soft and supple.

It's strange because I admit that I felt a little ambivalent when I first saw the Muubaa, but as I tried on with different outfits it grew on me more.

I don't think I'm going to say anymore and I'll let you see what you think.

Please excuse my hair in the photos as I think I'm badly in need of a cut.

LOVE the Muubaa on you! And really love the way you style it in first of the random styling photos! YLF!

I think the stronger tone of the Muubaa really brightens your complexion in a way the more subtle one just doesn't do.

without opening the thumbnails, the similarity is amazingly close! That said, i do agree that the creeping up back in #7 does not compare to the nice smooth look in #2.
It's your choice to decide how much $$$ an upgrade is worth. We all have our own top out point and it's different for all of us.
Off to open the pics and look closer

I wouldn't have thought the muubaa color would be that versatile but clearly it is, as all of the outfits are great. I don't think there's a huge difference between the two (in 7 most of the problem was an adjustment one) but I agree that the fit on the muubaa is slightly better.

The Muubaa is more flattering and fits better, IMHO, but not sure if it is wortht he extra $$.

The back creeping up on the other would drive me bonkers if I could feel it.

I absolutely love the colour, fit and style of the Muuba on you, Diane G, really prefer it to the faux leather. Adore the ways you've styled it too. I have a feeling this could turn into a real wardrobe workhorse for you. And very on trend with all the pastels for Spring and Summer. Enjoy your new treasure!

I have to say the two jackets are extremely close. I had to double back, to check when the pictures changed from one to the other. That said, the Muubaa wins over the bargain one (and that's a bargain) for me, because of the back and sleeve length.

The Muubaa jacket has 'wardrobe workhorse' written all over it. I love the colour and the style on you. It looks to be a very 'Diane G' item. Feminine but very modern and sleek.

Cool that you could find two garments so similar, but the fit of the other jacket isn't nice. Sleeves way to long/big. Sleeves perfect on the Muubaa, and it nips in attractively at the waist.

I can't tell the difference from the photos!

I'd say keep the Muubaa. The color is on trend, if you worry that it'll date too soon for that amount of $, I wouldn't fret too much about it. I bet you'll get a lot of wear out of it, more even than white or cream (which would be the alternative, IMO).

I'm still on the fence about this trendy color - I normally steer clear of shades like this because they wash me out. I was thinking I'd nod to the trend with a bag, not a coat, but now, seeing it on you, I'm wondering.....

Can you give me details on the size and measurement of the Muubaa? I'd looked at that brand but was dubious since I need a petite and all. I tried one on in the store awhile back, it was way too heavy for what I'm looking for (an outdoor coat) and the smallest size worked best scale wise but not width wise, when I went up it was too long proportionately speaking. What size is yours? How tall are you? Would you mind providing the measurements - shoulder to shoulder, armpit to armpit (laid flat), length, etc?

Thanks for your replies and wisdom ladies. It would seem the Muubaa is getting a fair bit of appreciation. Whilst I may be able to do something about the length of the sleeves on the cheaper coat. I think I much prefer the warmer tone of the leather one. Laura, you are right I just think I needed to pull the jacket down a little in #7 as it didn't seem to keep riding up.

When putting together possible outfits I was surprised at how much I liked burgundy with the flesh toned leather. I'll probably hang on to the cheaper coat anyway for trashing about in :), but I think the colour is more washed out.

Shiny, I'll pm you with measurements asap.

I vote with the majority. Not only does it look better, but the Muubaa will be around getting better for years and years long after the cheap one is cracked and worn.

There is a really noticeable difference to me in both the fit, the colour and your overall posture/demeanor while wearing the two. The faux leather jacket's fit is just off enough to look slightly schlumpy to me. The Muubaa fits you perfectly, the colour brightens your complexion and you look much happier and more confident wearing it.

Another vote for the Muubaa, and I'm usually super price conscious. To my eye the color is warmer/brighter and does the same to your skin tone. The fit is more flattering and it wrinkles and drapes like real leather, the intentional rumpled look of the faux-leather jacket doesn't mimic this quite as well. I also like that the Muubaa is a little sleeker without the shoulder straps. Both look very close, but these give the leather one an edge for me.

The faux leather jacket does not fit as well as the Muuba. I feel the faux leather fit around the waist and arms is quite poor, I would reject it on that basis. I think the Muuba is worth it. The leather experience adds a lot of happiness while wearing, which does not come across in a photo. So the Muuba gets additional points for that as well.

Muubaa wins by about million miles. The fit, the colour, the quality (what can be said from the photos).

If it's any good, the price is another reason to be delighted by it. I say wear only Muubaa, the other jacket was a pit-stop purchase before the right thing came along.

MUCH prefer the Muuba. Killer. You have a long neck too Diane, and the Muuba has a more structured neckline - and long necks like structure.

#12 is my absolute best. #10 and #11 too. xo

Great that you pursued a blush jacket. You are destined to have one and get a lot of wear out of it. You look gorgeous. I say go for the Muubaa. You put together lots of great looks and in my experience, once I have tried the "more right" item, my eye for the other one is poisoned, so it doesn't fill the same wardrobe role, it just mocks me. I agree the fit is better (for sleeves and back), leather usually reads differently, breathes and appears to make you very happy.
