The mall haul: shoes & Club Monaco sweaters

I'm way too tired to try everything on & style it all for pics, so you'll have to wait another day, but it was a very successful shopping excursion, on all fronts. I found lots of goodies, and so did both my DD's.

First stop for me was Club Monaco, while DD's hit H&M nearby. I didn't think I'd find anything at CM, since I've not had much luck in the past, but low and behold... I had great luck this time and walked out with three spring-weight sweaters.

pic 1 - Giselle sweater. Totally needs a cami underneath since it's sheer. The model in the pic is obviously not wearing a cami! Pic online really does not do it justice. Drapes really nice, fits me just a smidgen longer than in the pic there.

pic 2 - Evangeline sweater. Is to die for. So beautiful and drapey. Reminds me of Eileen Fisher. Picture is accurate.

pic 3 - Abby dot sweater. So comfy. Pic does not really do it justice.

I tried on a lot of other tops, but these came home with me. The SA informed me that CM is owned by Ralph Lauren. I had no idea. I love RL -- their dresses in particular fit me great. I am going to shop here more in the future. Only tried on tops, no pants, today.

Met back up with the kids, who had luck at H&M, then onward to Old Navy, where they had luck too, then onward to Macy's to look at shoes....

pic 4: Material Girl wedges. Both DD#1 and I bought these. They are awesome. Perfect for smaller ankles. Comfortable heel hight. Wedges for stability. And ... the laces can be adjusted!!! For those who have wider feet or bunions!! BRILLIANT!!!! These shoes really are brilliant. DD#1 is rocking them with leather skinnies she got at H&M. They look great with dresses, skirts, cropped pants, cuffed BF jeans, dress trousers... anything. I just love these shoes to bits. I am going to wear them into the ground.

pic 5: Vince Camuto Brianny. These were just so comfortable, the leather is so soft, heel not too high. Remind me a lot of what we wore in the 90s, but not black. The tan is a flattering shade for me.

pic 6: Vince Camuto Lyssia Wedge. Had to come home and order these online, as they did not have my size 6, but I'm 98% sure they'll fit because I tried the 1/2 size down (5-1/2) and the 1/2 size up (6-1/5). Skinny ankle girls, check these out.

Question about the Material Girl "Harley" lace-up wedge: is the leather soft enough for fussy feet?

April, the leather is not as soft as the VC's, but I think fussy feet would still love these. The beauty is in the fact they are lace ups. You can adjust the laces anyway you need. There is a zipper in the back on the heel, so if your foot is narrow you don't even need to touch the laces at all, you just unzip and slip your foot in. I can do that but then I played with the laces a bit to give me some more room in the toe box area, especially my left foot, which has a bunion at the base of the big toe. I imagine if you kept them laced too tight the leather might annoy but loosened up a pinch here and there, they don't bother me at all. Sometimes my feet will swell in the heat -- I like that I can just loosen the laces to accommodate that.

These are like cage heels, for fussy feet that need a lower heel, and stability of a wedge, and laces for support/customization. As I said... brilliant! I would actually try to coax my 70-something mother into trying these, she hasn't worn anything but lace-ups in 20 years.

These were the other contenders, the floor model fit perfectly, but unfortunately there was some sort of defect in one of the soles, giving it a weird bump, just on one foot not the other, so I'm sure it was a defect.They didn't have anymore size 6's left, if they did, they may have also come home with me too. But in the end, DD's preferred the VC Lyssia's.

[Whine!] Nice finds Shiny! I have been noticing here and there the finds at CM, but looked at their site and they have nothing anywhere near me. I even tried to look statewide -- and when I enter US, and then Maryland, the site insists I choose a city but there is just a blank in the dropdown list! Nearest I've found is in Philly, but I don't plan on trekking to Philadelphia anytime soon.

Site looks like RL though, so I'm not surprised to hear about the link.

I've been considering some spring shoes like those lace-ups, but I think I will need to see them on me first. Soooo, shoe shopping I shall go, sometime soon. It is ... finally ... beginning to seem as though warmer weather WILL come!

Thanks so much for the shoe reviews. I've been eyeing shoes like the Briannys, good to know they work. I have seen shoes like the Material Girl wedges but didn't consider. However, you make a powerful case for them! I too have wide feet with one bunion on the outside of my right foot. Plus I have a bony high instep. These would accommodate my high volume feet, as Angie likes to call it.

Let us know how the wedges on order work out too.

Great haul! Love the Briannys. My warm weather shoe collection needs a complete overhaul, so I am snapping up ideas everywhere. Those are now on my list! That color is just beautiful.

Nice choices, shiny! I really like the lace up style too. I tried to find them online and if I saw the right ones, it looks like they might be manmade rather than leather. Is that correct?
