Hi everyone, thanks SO much for everyone's feedback on my Italy packing. Although I didn't respond to every comment (so I wouldn't keep bumping my own thread), I did read everything, and took it to heart, especially tips around modesty, shoe comfort, and not defaulting to black (although as you'll see, I'm basically defaulting to navy instead - but at least there's some prints in there). I also got tips from DH who chatted with his boss; the tone of the trip is very relaxed and casual, so nothing super-dressy is required.
Here's my basic outline:
- travel - we go straight to lunch after flying to Florence via Brussels, so I somehow need to look half-decent but also be comfy. I am thinking of my olive moto pants, which are thinner than jeans so I don't boil when we arrive, and a navy linen t-shirt, with my mom's striped navy cardi as a topper for the plane. Either Birkies or tan ballet flats (see below) as shoes
- night one - business session and dinner. Thinking my olive, navy and white striped dress for this one. Don't love it with the tan shoes; might pack my white flatforms if I have room for them (doing carry on)
- next day - walking tour of the city. Linen wide-leg pants and a sleevless top; will bring a gauzy pale periwinkle scarf for extra coverage as needed. Birkies and straw fedora.
- viewing of "David" followed by dinner. Navy wrap dress (try on pic also included) - love this little Gap find!
- next day - tour of Tuscany region, followed by dinner. No change in between, so I'll wear my linen wide pants again, this time with a navy linen sleeveless tie-waist top. Birkies and straw fedora.
- next day - free time in the day - white crops (or even the wide crops again; why not) and an undecided top - probably one of my linen tops. Birkies.
- final dinner - white jeans; navy and white printed blouse (or maybe my mom's fuschia blouse to change the colour scheme up). Tan sandals.
- travel home - whatever's clean!
I love the printed skirt shown in the photo - but the size is too small. IF I can size up, I will bring that too, to allow for another option; if not, I think I'm good. I may bring my Zara black dress as a back-up in case the women seem to be dressier - it a great fit and can be rolled into a ball and not wrinkle Will see what space looks like.
I considered returning the sandals and just wearing my tan ballet flats - but with the hot temperatures, the idea of wearing closed toe shoes is a bit off-putting ... I'd rather take my chance with the comfy heel!
What do you think? Thoughts/suggestions? Thanks everyone!
