The "how" of wearing slouchy pants like the Leith trouser

So I'm seeing so many fab ladies here wearing these new Leith trousers, and I got to looking around online at different slouchy trousers. It seems to me they are mostly worn with heels by the models. But I don't usually wear heels, so if I'm being practical what kind of shoes would I wear these with? Loafers, oxfords, booties? I don't know if any of those would look good.

They'd look awesome with your booties.

What do you have for summer footwear? AJ showed hers with some sandals and they looked great.

I have loafers, oxfords, ballet flats and will receive d'orsay flats soon. To wear these type of pants with flats shoes should the pants be cropped, or would full length pants work? I'm thinking full length would be nice to span more seasons.

hummm im not familiar with the trend but i think if u are taller than 5.4 you will look great with low heeled shoes ...;) ...the only things i wear flat are with jeans, trousers, and some shorts (really short) I'm petite so many things i can't wear (sigh)

I wore similar pants last evening and I cannot get them to look properly proportioned on my short of leg 5'4" frame without a heel or heeled bootie however I do not own a pair of slipper flats like in the pic. Thank you for sharing and I am sure you will look sharp in this type of look.

Did you notice how the loafer style had a pointy toe?

Particulary with the Leith, I really liked how the slight open zipper draped around my forefoot and my slight pointy toe wedges better than the black flats I also tried:

Thanks AJ. It's nice to see them paired with many shoes. I don't have an thing with wedges or any heel other than my booties. I'm not sure how good flat shoes like oxfords/loafers/flats would look. I'm also not sure if these shoes would be better suited to ones that have no zip leg opening, or like the Leith.

I bet you'd look great with in them with pointy toed flats - like you pictured. That type of shoes doesn't need any scrunch, but would still look fine with some scrunch. Plus, you have slender legs, so you'll still have a nice slim leg line even without the added height of heels.

Just promise you won't also adopt the pouty face

I wouldn't shorten to a cropped length to wear with flats (you'll drive Angie apoplectic) - the but pic you posted with some scrunch would be super fab.

I won't comment about the pants, but doesn't the model look sickly?

I think they'd look good with loafers, booties, wedge sneakers, and sandals (wedge or gladiator types).

Yes I agree Niefern. It's for the la Garconne website. I really like their clothes but their models are sort of sickly looking. I guess it's the look. Sometimes it makes it hard to judge the clothes though, I often compare between several sites.

Well it's been helpful that so many ladies on the forum have picked them up. It's helping me to see them styled many ways.

When I wear similar pants, I think I look much better in a heel (but then again, I think I look better in a heel at all times). But I will break out the flats too, because it is way more practical sometimes. Actually most of the time... With three kids and dealing with a super long winter, I rarely have much choice.

Yeah, wearing shoes in the house is an issue for me - but I'm thinking my booties, and cage sandals in spring.
