The H & M emerald moto jacket from Anna...

The beautiful faux suede emerald jacket from Anna arrived SO quickly. And guess what - it's TOO SMALL! Possibly by 2 sizes. The arms and shoulders are just way too tight for my linebacker bod! And the rest is a bit small as well. I almost cried when I tried it on. This is a size 8.

I'm really starting to wonder if I'm demented. I keep feeling like sizing runs small but maybe it's that sizes are normal and I'm running bigger than I think. Geesh!

Anyway, I have a couple of options. I could bring it down to the CA meeting and see if anyone wants to take it for $20 (Rae?). Or I can put it up for grabs here on the style exchange. It's gorgeous and totally fulfills the hole in my heart from the DVF emerald jacket of a couple of years ago.

In fact, if anyone near an H & M can snag it in a 12 (I think a 10 might even be too small), I'd be overjoyed. Anna, thanks so much for the effort!

And H&M sizes are really strange and inconsistent, IMO. A size M dress was huge on me, I have a size 6 pant when I wear a 2 at AT and BR, and I can never get their jacket sizes correct on first try.

Rae, I'm sending it down in my mystery shipment! And if it doesn't suit you, someone else can try it, or it can go back to H & M since Anna isent the receipt. I LOVE LOVE LOVE it - enough to consider not climbing to shrink my arms.

Sorry, Una -- I meant to chime in on this issue when I first saw that moto thread. In my experience, you have to go up *multiple* sizes at H&M. At AT, a 0 petite jacket fits me perfectly. At H&M, a 4 is often overly snug.

I hope you can still get one!

I will keep my eyes on the result. Because if rae or someone else can't find the size, I can duck into the store on Newbury Street and see if they have it for our meetup. Your back is covered, Una! (figuratively) And please, I know you're joking (right?) but no giving up climbing for a jacket, yo.

I usually wear 4-6, and have gone to a 12 at H&M - depending on the item.

Sizing is completely nutty these days.

OK, so I almost without exception wear the smallest size in a store, be it an XS, XXS, whatever. My most recent purchase from H&M is a pair of bright pink size 8 pants that I can't really bend my legs in. (But they're so pink!)

I went by the SF H&M today and they were out of stock in anything larger than a 4 or a 6. Sorry Una!

I wear a S or an XS in almost everything - except H&M. I have a skirt in M from there that is *tight* around the waist - and the jackets? I never know what size I wear - I just have to try them all on. So frustrating! If that size 8 doesn't work for Rae, I'd like to give it a try!

I wear an H&M 8 in jackets (also for Divided) so I'm sure it will fit Rae or Marley.

H & M goes by Swedish sizes I've heard since it is a Swedish brand. I am usually a 0 and get a 4 there most times. Don't worry its not just you!

I discovered a few days ago that the Divided line fits me 3-4 sizes smaller than the regular H&M line. I fit a 10 in the regular line, and every size 12 jacket I tried from the Divided line was too small.

Also chiming in about H&M's sizing. My waist runs thicker than "average" for my proportions, but I can wear a size 4 skirt at Anthro and a size 0 pencil skirt at J.Crew. At H&M, I'm at least a 6 and oftentimes I need to size up to an 8. (Aside from high-waisted pieces, I am uniformly a size 0 or 2.)

So frustrating, Una!! But honestly, it is not you.

You know me, right...I take a 4 P in jackets at Ann Taylor or a 2 or 4 P or 2 regular in tops elsewhere or an XS...a 0 or 2 or 0 or 2 petite in most bottoms.....but at H&M, my new moto jacket is an 8 and another jacket I have from there is a 6. They are sized more like European clothes, I think.
