The great sandals dilemma of 2012: need advice

I'm sure all of you must be sick and tired of my sandal rants by now! But I am really confused right now and could use some advice!

My first option is a pair of grey heeled sandals from Eram (pics 1 to 4). Pic 4 shows the true colour, a lightish grey. These are comfy and fit well. They are also Angie approved. My only concern in that heeled sandals may not be as suited to my life as flat ones. Inam also not sure about the velcro strap.

My second option is a pair of red sandals from Mephisto. I like the colour and these are also comfy and fit well. I am not sure about the style - are they frumpy?

I kind of wish I could see more of a side view of the grey sandals, but I think I prefer them to the Mephistos. They look slightly less casual, I think, which seems like they might be more versatile.

It is really hard to say without a full length view (I can't judge a shoe by its closeup). But the red Mephistos look good to me - frump is hard to judge in the abstract.

I prefer the grey ones - they look more versatile and edgy. I don't think the red are frumpy but they do have a more casual vibe because of the sole (sort of more Birkenstock-ish). BUT I think you have to go with comfort if you are only going to get one pair (I forget, do you have other comfy sandals). I do love those cork footbed styles like on the Mephistos for comfort.

I don't mind the Velcro straps. I used to hate them but now have several pairs of sandals with them, including my yellow gladiators, where you really can't tell they have Velcro and it's very convenient. Similarly, I don't think you can tell these have Velcro unless you look closely (as long as they strap is long enough not to show any Velcro, I think you're good.)

Diana: I currently have no sandals I bought a pair of flat metallic gladiators but they are so uncomfortable! Do you think I should get both? So I would have one dressier and one casual sandal?

Angie: I'm not sure in terms of inches but they are quite low and manageable. But would flat sandals be more useful for the amount of walking I do? Should I get both? That would ensure a dressier sandal and a casual one.

It looks like the gray ones will work. I have found Clarks makes some really nice dressy flat sandals. I have included a pic of me wearing my favorite pair.

The grey are very stylish and good looking. Nice color for versatility. Might be a bit high for tons of walking but that's just my perception of course. The Mephisto look like good walkers and for going to park/picnic/outdoor wear. I think they look like they have very different purposes so it just depends what your need is.

I like the grey ones and the heel doesn't seem very high, so I guess you will adopt pretty soon. The red ones: as chritieanne says, and the frump factor is hard to judge without seeing them on

Christieanne: I think you hit the nail on the head. Thanks! I would love a casual comfy sandal for running around, but also a slighly less casual one for outings with my husband or get togethers with friends. Maybe both then?

Getting both might not be a bad idea if you don't have any other sandals and plan to wear them a lot... if you use Angie's four sandal complement from yesterday, the grey could be your funky sandal and the red your casual one.
