The fruits of my labor, closet edition

I know I love seeing everyone else's closet space, so I thought I'd share my newly- cleaned closet. Or more accurately, my newly-cleaned *half* of the closet. I shall not traumatized you with my husband's half.

Yes, I have that many clothes that I could clean out 9 bags' worth and *still* have a full closet!

Yes! So organized it's pretty! Like a gorgeous boutique I'd like to visit. And I really have to save the shoe pic to convince my hubs that I have a completely reasonable amount.

You are encouraging me to start my own closet clean-up. I'm struggling with boot storage. I need to have them all out so I can see them, not put away in boxes (I had a pair of brown suede high heeled shoe boots tucked away in a box and didn't wear them for two YEARS because I forgot I had them), but don't have sufficient real estate to do so. Need to figure out something asap, because now whenever I open my closet doors, boots fall out!

This is a great time for me to see this, after being knee deep in my own closet all afternoon. It's motivation to get through it and have a similar pic myself soon!! I also love seeing closet pics.

Thanks, everybody! I went to get changed to go to the gym and was so happy when I opened the closet door.

Angie, thank you! I'm using rolled-up magazines to hold my taller boots upright, but they only partially do the trick. I would love to have better shoe and boot storage. I'm thinking of getting one of those closet companies to come redo our closet to make better use of our vertical space. Every one of these wire shelf/rod assemblies in the house is gradually collapsing out of the walls, so I feel like the ones in our master bedroom closet are living on borrowed time.

Yes, it's an amazing feeling cleaning out/tidyin up your wardrobe. I did this a couple of months ago - everything's organised into garment style (skirts/trousers/dresses/tops), then by colour, then left to right by sleeve length - it saves SO MUCH TIME in the morning co-ordinating outfits! A friend came over and nearly fell over laughing as she thought it was FAR too organised and I'd wasted my time. Boy did I cop some teasing.... so when she moved house I sorted her things into the same order and she was amazed at how easy it was to find things. She also used my idea of screwing a corkboard into the back of the sliding wardrobe door to hang jewellery and could suddenly see all her jewellery at once when choosing outfits. .... she seemed so surprised that it all worked so well!
Congratulations Janet, and wow you do have a lot of shoes - I shall be showing your post to my husband to point out that my little collection is nothing at all!

Fantastic! I use the cardboard rolls from paper towels to hold up my boots and it works for me.

Wow, great collection of boots!

I did have an assortment of empty plastic bottles that I was using to keep my boots upright, but for some reason I decided to throw them all out and lay the boots down on their sides. Maybe this is an excuse to drink more wine so I can use the bottles.
