Thank you for posting. This video made me think--not about modest vs. immodest swimsuits, but about how someone who is starting a company has to identify a niche market and find a way to promote her product. In this case, the hook is that we as women don't want to turn off the part of men's brains that see us as people by wearing bikinis.
I think the video is really mis-named as it is not about the evolution of the swimsuit (though it does describe the advent of the bikini), and this mis-naming provoked a strong reaction from me. Ms. Rey presents two extremes: a teeny bikini or a high-coverage garment. She ignores the fact that there are many one-pieces and sporty swimsuits on the market; in fact there are lots of choices out there (has she looked at the Lands End website?) I wear sporty swimsuits, fairly modest so I can move in comfort, but I do not choose my suits based on what I think men will think (and I hope I never do).
I am around plenty of high school and middle school girls, and I think now more than ever, they have tons of modest choices. Some wear small bikinis, but plenty wear rash guard/board short combos, which offer even more coverage than the suits Ms. Rey designs and is promoting. Anyhow, I am glad I watched this video: even though I disagree with some of the presenter's points/angles, I have to admire her business savvy and I appreciate being provoked to think about swimwear. Thanks, Deborah.
