The dress extender and other recent WIWs

There are quite a few outfits here, so let's get right to it!

#1 - What to do with a "too short for me" dress that is $100 off its original price? Let the hem down and add a dress extender slip! I first read about these slips in a post by Alaskagirl. I wore this on a warm day in Sept. and I didn't end up needing the jacket.
Dress - J.Crew Factory (last spring), jacket - JCP (2+ yrs.), shoes - SE Okala (last spring), slip - aslipshop.com (last spring)

#2 - An outfit worn to go out with friends last September.
Jeans - Gap (last spring), shirt - Charming Charlie (last summer), blazer - JCP (2 yrs.), shoes - Franco Sarto (last summer)

#3 & #4 - Work outfits!
Skirts - JCP (2+ yrs.), sweater - Van Heusen (this year), apple shirt - Gap (2+ yrs.), flats - Sam Edelman (this fall), beige heels - Lifestride (3 yrs.)

#5 - My MIL talked me into buying this sweater. As a lover of polka dots, it didn't take much talking.
Jeans - Gap (last spring), sweater - Talbots (this fall), shoes - Bella Vita Wow (1 yr.), necklace - Charming Charlie (last summer)

#6 - Trying to extend the life of a summer dress into fall, this was a mash-up of two outfits from Pinterest.
Denim jacket - American Eagle (3 yrs.), dress - self made (last summer), tights - Assets by Spanx (new), shoes - Sam Edelman Okalas (last spring)

#7 - Wearing the Gap Skimmers into fall (it's too cold for bare ankles now). Jeans - Gap (last summer), shirt - Old Navy (last summer) boots - Express (l1 yr.)

#8 - My version of "Post Apocalyptic." A little dark in color for my complexion, but fun to try.
Poncho - JCP (l1 yr.), Jeans - Gap, shoes - Corso Como (2 or 3 yrs.)

#9 - I bought this vest at the Eddie Bauer Outlet. I love the tabs on the side that cinch the waist in a bit.
Vest - Eddie Bauer (new), pants - JCP (l1 yr.), sweater - F21 (1 yr.)

#10 - This easy peasy dress is quickly becoming a FFBO.
Sweater dress - Old Navy (l1 yr.), shoes - SE Okalas (new), boots - gift from DH (l1 yr.)

#11 - Happy Halloween! I talked a fellow teacher into wearing these costumes with me for the Fall Bash at school. Costumes - self made (many years ago)

#12 - Cosmo Edward, all dressed up as an ice cream sundae for Halloween, aka "tricks for treats day."

Oooh, dress extender! Mine is too lacy but still useful so I may look for another style. It's so good to see you back. The costumes are amazing!

Omg, your dog is so cute dressed as an an cream sundae! These are all so great, it's hard to pick a favorite. The dress extender is a creative idea and I never would have guessed from the pictures that the hem wasn't part of the dress. The polka dot sweater outfit is so crisp and graphic. I also love the sweater dress outfits. Fun costumes!

I love #1 - what a smart trick! You look fantastic in #4 and the sweater in #5 makes me drool (another polka dot lover here!)

Really like the outfit mash-up in #6....looks cosy and stylish. I think your FFBO is super cool (it's my FFBO too ).

These are all such great outfits, Karie, I thought I had favorites and then wanted to add all the others to the list. But at the top of my list is 2--I like that little touch of boho with the top, and how you've incorporated it into a polished casual look that is totally you.
Super fun Halloween photos, too. Cosmo Edward looks none too happy--such a funny little face!

Wowz, Karie! These are all amazing looks; everything perfectly fit and proportioned. I love the outfit you created in 5--chic and modern--as well as the poncho look in 8 and the well crafted ensemble in pic 2. The hem extender in 1 is a brilliant idea, and you worked the black into the look so well with your accessories. And look at Cosmo Edward treating us on Halloween. What fun costumes you all had.

Cosmo Edward was NOT happy wearing his costume, that is until we walked to his Grammie's house (we live in the same neighborhood) and he did "tricks for treats" and got lots of them. He promptly forgot about the costume!

I learn so much from you outfits Carrie. Love the leopard skirt , and the polka dot outfit and the grey sweater and the black cape and the look alike outfit. I like the way your wear tights in some of these outfits as well. You look fantastic in it all but those are some of my favorites.

I LOVE the Halloween costumes! Killer Deluxe. Cosmo Edward is such a sport.

Well, I had my piece of chocolate and it was as divine as your outfits here, Karie. I like so many of them, especially 2-5 (love you in polka dots and small prints as much as solids).

A question on the dress extender: is it an entire slip or a piece that you see onto the let-out hem? AlaskaGirl always has some great tricks up her sleeve.

These are all terrific outfits, but I especially love the new polka dot sweater on you. Great purchase!

I really like the mashup outfit, too, which is quite surprising since I'm usually poison eyed against dark tights with summer dresses. Somehow the denim jacket seems to save it for me and it works really well on you!
