It’s really sad. I think we have a long way to go, and it’s anybody’s guess what will be left of the life we knew by the time it’s over. It’s scary for sure. My husband’s business (IT consulting and project management) has one main client, and they’re a huge hospitality company. They are furloughing workers and laying off their employees; projects are being postponed or shut off. He has to work out how to get paid the outstanding invoices from the client and pay his consultants. And then there is another business he invested in and serves as an adviser — an oil field service business in Texas. Also gearing down, and with equipment still being paid for. Maybe the cattle ranch is our best bet right now — people still need to eat!
My oldest stepson filed for unemployment. He is a freelance sound and stage tech, and he was busy as could be until a few weeks ago. Now...nothing.
As for my rather small income — I don’t count on anything from that for the foreseeable future. I don’t think most people are thinking of buying art now.
Time to get more creative and self-reliant!
