The Cole Haan Skylars are breaking my heart!

I ordered the blue and they arrived yesterday. They are a DREAM... the color and style are exactly what I wanted. They would rescue so many navy items from oblivion for me.

But they are TOO NARROW! I need a foot girdle just to squeeze my foot into the shoe unlaced. Curse my fat feet! Do you think sizing up would help or am I doomed?

I've always had a hard time with Cole Haan shoes. I've got a slightly wide foot. Wide enough that I can wear a wide shoe, but most of the time I'm okay with regular widths. Cole Haan kills me. But, maybe stretching would help? I've had fairly good luck with that. Did you get them from Nordstrom? They'd be able to tell you if they can stretch them.

ETA: We must be in some crazy form of shoe sync-up right now. I was just looking at those exact shoes at Zappos. Had them in my cart. The reflective scared me a little. Are they? Not that I could wear them. What with the wide feet and all. Groan. Killing me. I want denim blue leather oxfords! Where are they, universe?!? Can you hear me?

Oh Una - that STINKS! And unfortunately, I think that answers the question as to whether they'd fit my feet as well. Like k, I have medium width feet bordering on wide.

Oh, no...... That is so sad. Cole Han does run narrow. There has to something out there similar.

I got the blue. It's BEAUTIFUL. Like a shiny ink blue - I actually gasped when I took them out of the box. I found them for cheaper on Amazon and with free shipping/returns so I am STUPIDLY trying a half-size up.

Thanks for all the empathy. KCS, I'm probably in shoe sync with everyone because all I seem to do is moon after shoes and boots (or jackets)...

Ah, I should have inferred since you said they save a lot of navy items. Yes, SO pretty! I hope the size up helps... can patent not be stretched? Or didn't Shannon stretch her Kate Spade pumps?

Una, the half size up might work. I've not had good luck with other styles from Cole Haan but the Skylar works for me. My foot is definitely on the wide side. I usually wear a 7.5, in flats I can sometimes wear a 7.

The Skylar felt snug when I put it on but it definitely loosened up as I wore it. I have a bit of extra length because it's fairly pointed and length wise I maybe could have worn a 7 but was glad I went with the 7.5 for comfort.

I too love that blue color. I hope the next size works for you.

Is it a patent finish? Patent can be stretched, but won't stretch as much as softer leathers (said my shoe guy). He also said that when you put them on after stretching, they might feel shug, but should relax back out in a minute (like a balloon that has been blown up is easier the blow up the next time).

I found this true for some patent loafers I had stretched. They still don't make my all-day comfort criteria, but at least I will wear them!

Sizing up rarely works for me. Do you have a narrow heel? That gets bigger too. If there is already some extra length in front, the extra 1/4 inch can mean tripping on the toe.

Oh, Rae, that ombre Miista is TDF! Will seek it out elsewhere...

MNSara, my foot is like a brick or a block - my heel is not narrower. Really these just felt too tight all over, so maybe a half-size up will add room everywhere. Thanks for the info on stretching patent!
